Hmmmmmm okay, how about something "Outeresting"?...
You should see the one for "How they make Metro amps". It starts off with, "First the worker convinces his wife to let him buy the kit. Then the worker tells all his friends how great he is because he is going to build his own amp. Then the worker receives the the kit and promptly pisses his pants due in equal parts to the excitement of the project, and as well because he wonders WHAT IN THE HELL HE HAS GOTTEN HIMSELF INTO!!!! Then the worker realizes that he doesn't have to do everything at once, but instead - follows the directions that stress the idea of "taking one shit at a time!". (as opposed to a really big asshole that tries to take two or more shits at a time...)
The worker eventually realizes that he has absolutely nothing to worry about and has all the help in the world from his friends at the Metro forums. The worker then builds the amp of his dreams and lives happily ever after...unless his name is "Ralle", "Rockstah", or "rgalpin"... (just teasin' guys!   )

You've gotta admit, though, watching that pick and place machine stick to parts in and wave solder them in a couple seconds kinda answers the question why those handwired amps are so much more expensive.

I agree man! I LOVE technology! And I am NOT a purist that has a problem with everything that has evolved since the steam engine. It's all relative afterall...
But thanks for posting that link - very informative. And it's great to see things like that in order to give a perspective.
In fact, I keep thinking that someday there will be some type of technology where our amps are 10% digital, and 90% organic. But the kicker is, the "organic part" will be some gelatinous, green sticky fluid that gives us every "human" tone we could ever ask for....but that's another ("Star Trek-esque") story...

Did you know Steve Vai eats his own boogers?
Fuck it.

That was an interesting clip. The demonstration of circuit board flex from 1:51 to 2:30 answers a lot of questions ( ) about why that bad-ass Mesa Boogie makes those funny electrical arcing noises right before Channel 8 (only when its in the nuclear buzz-fizz-weed-wacker mode) farts off into never-never land, scaring the shit out of Barfy AND the goldfish. Seriously, the speed that an amp can be made by machine is astounding. And that IS why a handwired amp is more expensive, but its kinda like watching the Wonder Bread factory pump out 18 bazillion loaves of bread a second (complete with roach antlers, and mouse asses), as opposed to watching Mom make a loaf of homemade bread. BIG, BIG difference, and well worth the price, and the wait. (Homer: Mmm... Moms bread...) 8) 8)

Oh Fill, don't you know? See, boards are flexible, and they WANT us to push on them...I mean, they are flexible, so we WANT to push on them, and they WANT us to push on them, soooo....we, as humans, do, and we can't help it. It's just the way it is. (and don't you dare even think of questioning it!)
Never underestimate the tonal contribution of a well pushed PCB....
They are flexible....so we HAVE to push them...it's just the way it is...stop overthinking it....

Normally, that would be true, Sparky, BUT... if we're talking about, say, Jessica Biel, well... (I would absolutely eat one of her boogers for an hour of "recreation" with THAT. I would just cop a "Survivor Man" angle about it, and take her out in the woods to spend some quality time in my newly constructed mud-hut) (YEEEEHAAA!!!!!     ) 8)

See, NOW I get it!! THATS how mass produced amps get that highly elusive "sag" in their tonal response!!! Its flexible PC boards!!! Makes sense!! Now I know NOT to buy any amps with stiff, "unresponsive" PC boards, CAUSE THEY'LL HAVE STIFF, UNRESPONSIVE TONE!!!! Man, thanks for opening my eyes once again, Ear!!! (how do you suppose those PC amps get a "fat" tone?? Maybe by using fat control knobs?? How 'bout a fat handle to lift it up with?? C'mon, man... you seem to know this stuff. Let us in on the voodoo secrets!!!) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
