Fed Ex told me it was over their limit. Mine weighed 138 lbs.

No lie, some of that stuff has to be sold locally.

I wonder if it would be cheaper to ship the cab and speakers separately.

So I drop off the 2x12 cab at my friends' music store to be picked up (which I arranged over the phone). UPS Guy on the phone says he'll need to take my CC number for verification for when the UPS driver gets there to pickup today.

My buddy just called and said, "The driver told me he can't take credit cards.". Which makes sense when you think about it.

The UPS driver told me to take it to the UPS Store here in town and I'd save $20.

blehhh.....

Wow...well, April of 2006 I shipped a 2x12 cab from LA to Greensboro NC and it cost about $65 each way. The road case and cabinet weighed in at 80 pounds, and measured 24H x 35L x 18D. I shipped it via Fedex Ground.

Yeah, but don't businesses get a better rate than Joe Schmuck anyway?

Yeah I think so. I've had stuff delivered to a friends shop. UPS comes there everyday so I think he gets some kind of deal. However he's said that his shipping costs have really gone up the last 5-10 years.

Shipping costs have exponentially increased in the past year or so. I lost some $$$ on eBay because I didn't realize this. Freaking crazy.
