I received a couple of PM's from people that thought I might be trying to give them a virus!!! I hope you guys know I would never do that! :? Below was the body of the e-mail I recieved from our IT department... the link above is OK and legit... the website, snopes.com, is actually pretty cool... it has just about every rumor that is out there and whether or not it's true and the real story... i.e. Richard Gere and the gerbil incident, Phil Collins and the "In the Air Tonight" story, etc... Sorry for the confusion, I'd never purposely harm anyone on this forum!!

Here is the quote:

A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft as the most Des tructive ever. This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon by McAfee . This virus simply dest roys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital information for its functioning are stored.

This virus acts in the following manner:
It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the title:

'You've received a Post Card from a Family member'.

As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened the computer freezes so that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+ delkeys or the reset button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused panic in New York , according to news broadcast by CNN.

This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itself.

So don't open any mails with subject:'A Post Card from ..' As soon as you get the mail, delete it! Even if you know the sender!

Please pass this mail to all of your friends.

Thanks for the heads up, G.P. Those little fukkers that create this shit wreak havoc with these computers, and its just an unnecessary ball buster.

Yeah, that stuff is nuts!

I looked back on my email inbox and outbox from the last year. GEEPERS. Look at all that email!

Then I read the other day that 95% of the email sent in the past year, worldwide, was Spam!

I don't even want to think about that **** right there. That's just ****** up.

You believe that? Even if it's off by a bit. . . I mean, you know how much email you send. I know how much I send. . . and it's hardly a drop to the computer generated junk and spam mail that who only knows is sending out. What a bunch of buttmunching turdburglars. I hope they take their spam and cram it where the sun don't shine. SIDEWAYS!!!

Same goes for those nutbar Virus people. Just screwed up.

I hear you guys... luckily, there is virus/spam protection sophisticated enough to filter out the bullshit e-mails... I remember back in the mid-late 90's I would get nearly 100 e-mails /day and 95% of those were garbage! I rarely get much spam nowadays... It appears as though this MF found a way to cheat the protection  which will lead us to buy more sophisticated software and then another a$$hole will find a way around that and then another version of the protection software will come out, etc, etc, etc... I'm in the wrong business!

Wierd...my hard drive has been suddenly playing up. In normal mode, windows boots to a certain point then freezes though it works fine in safe mode. I'm currently using my old HD with a virus infected image so i'm avoiding anything to do with e-mails and paypal. I wonder whether something like that has got at me?
