Yeeeahh, buddy... the Stella Quasi. A friend of mine put a McCulloch on one of those too. Just what ya need... a 17hp bike with practically no steering rake, and 6" wheels!! THE perfect way to break some bones!! Also remember the Taco? Purple... just like the color of the bruises you'd get after the mandatory wipeout!!
Ye be bringin' back them good ol' memories again, Chief!! 8) 8) 8) 8)

Oh man, those Stella rigids were pretty Hi Tech, eh  ?

We had a place off Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont behind the lumber yard that was owned by LILCO. We cut a hole in the fence (natch  ) and would ride there everyday. We made a pretty cool dirt track there. One of the guys had a Benelli Mini Enduro (a real motorcycle with GEARS!!!) a couple of guys had Rupp's ('member them!!!!?!?) and I had my Stella. Now let me mention again the Stella was a rigid frame plus the design "features" you mentioned earlier....I spent more time at the local body shop getting shit welded back on...the throttle side handlebar snapping clean off in mid flight comes to mind... Yeah, those bruises were a pretty shade of purple weren't they???!!! I wouldn't trade it for a minute!

Rupp... werent they the bikes with that centrifugal torque converter? I remember one of those bikes had a TC on it.

Yep, I had bumps, bruises, stitches and even a knockout (helmetless, lost control of my kart behind Gimbels in Green Acres and slid sideways into a parked car~~knocked out cold) from those days, and wouldnt trade not even one of them for a different childhood. 8) 8) 8)

(The knockout explains some stuff though, dont it??)  /

Aha! Another thing we have in common. 'Cept my bump came from when I was a baby and my older cousin banged my head on the ceiling beam...and, there was that gig at Wooden Ships in when I jump off the stage straight into the beam....never missed a note though!

I eventually got a Rupp Scrambler, the green one. It did have the TC!
