Travis style picking
Anyone know a good technique for learning travis style finger picking other than do it real slow for months until it becomes muscle memory? Always wanted to finger pick but since I gave up piano the left hand right hand independent thing (besides picking/strumming) is tough.

excellent question.
My instructer told me to put a little towel between the strings and the body of the guitar( near the pickups) to muffle the sound.
He did this so you won't get to discouraged over the strings making a wreck of things trying to practice.
But no, you have to start out slow.The muscle memory thing.
