Soldering Problem

Post by damienH » Wed Oct 12, 2005 6:38 pm

Hey,
I'm just after buying a new soldering iron ( 30W ) and when I try to solder anything it's like the tip isn't hot enough. Further up the iron the solder melts but not at the tip so it's fairly useless. Could it be the solder/soldering iron I'm using???? Thanks

It could be if its cheap. Some ratshack cheapies Ive used were like taht until I left them warm up for an hour. 30 watts shoudl be melting the solder instantly anywhere. Try some new tips.

Is the tip clean and shiny? (Quit snickering).
