Investing in Iraqi Dinars

Post by mightymike » Wed Jan 19, 2011 1:05 pm

My GF is thinking about buying $800 worth, and asked me to look into it. She said our Manatee County
Tax collector just bought $20k worth, and that they are going to revalue the currency.

So I've been looking it up, and found a website called something like http://www.iraqidinar.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , and their graph showed that against the dollar, that you would have lost 15% had you invested in 2004.

So I told her, I don't know. Sounds like gambling to me. Don't risk more than you're willing to lose.
The reason I'm posting this is to see if anyone else kows about this, and can add some information.

Thx, Mike

I'm not a financial advisor, but I do know this- All currencies are fiat today, and not backed by anything. When economies begin to crumble, those with insider knowledge usually get out of paper stocks, bonds & currencies and stock up on hard commodity assets they can hold which people are already going to use anyway, plus items which retain or gain value during huge inflation (precious metal, food, energy, water, land, brass & lead, coffee, beer, smokes, tubes, strings, Metro Amps... :D ). Anything that will be much higher or unavailable later. The best source I know for advice is Lew Rockwell Dot Com. His short podcast with Charles Goyette (author of The Dollar MeltDown- How To Survive) is excellent- co

I wouldn't do that. A guy I work with "invested" 300 bucks in that. I don't think he's seen any money back.

Thanks for the advice. I asked my uncle about it, and he advised against it too, becasue he looks at Iraq as an unstable country. He recommended investing in Gold, better yet Silver.

People would do good to have a little garden from good seeds. Even just some beefsteak tomatoes in the back yard with pole-beans climbing a trellis. Once started, they take care of theirselves and taste great. My grandparents did this and live to be 99.5 and 95 years old... Then folks'd have more money for guitars and amps, too. :D

True, but if a bee pollinates your farm from a neighboring Monsanto grown farm, then Monsanto considers your seed a copyright infringement, even if the pollination was unwanted, and your seed stock dates back in your family more than 100 years. They are an insidious corporation, and are corrupting the genetics of our food. If they can, they would eliminate all free seed lines, so that everyone will have to buy their sterile GM'd seed.

When I was in the Philippines and India, I saw Monsanto seed houses everywhere. The folks I met there have been clue'd in though, and some are now using and trying to save non-GMO, non-hybrid seeds from below, in small enough and isolated enough applications to avoid some of those issues.
