Online pronouciations seem to favor sprayg, but geographical areas that say sprahg I don't think would be wrong either. Potayto/potahto. Chassee/chasSIS, say whatever you feel is comfortable to you. Hell the guy I buy parts from locally is redneck to the core and he says spraig with an eye sound.

I think Necrovore is right but with one little change in the "s " sound. It looks like a German or Eastern European word to me. So the "a" would be pronounced as an "ah" sound. So it would probably rhyme with the city Prague. Also the "s" would have a "sh" sound. So that would sound like shit. So it would probably be pronounced like an sh sound before Prague or in more redneck terms it sounds like a shitty frog. So shprahg in germany. But in english speaking countries Sprayg.

Hey Texwest I kind of like your analogy. The Shprauge I think sounds pretty cool. Question though. where do you get Shitty Frog from?

I was being silly! I used the word frog because Billy Batz used that rhyme earlier in the thread. Rockstah , sorry if I confused you with it, you actually do pronounce the "p". The city named Prague rhymes with the word frog. So to pronounce sprague correctly, you would add an "sh" sound in front of Prague.

Funny you should say that. It only rhymes with frog (prawg) if you say it in an American accent... or some American accents anyway. We generally seem to pronounce it "prahg" in european English.

With an Oxford accent, like all English.

I'm a buyer of electronic components by day and still deal with modern Vishay Sprague parts on occasion. 99% sure it's "sprayg."
