Bill Lawrence and his Legacy

Post by JimiJames » Sun Nov 03, 2013 11:46 pm

He designed some good stuff, man. Many appreciated his contributions to the music world.
I remember when Mark & I walked into his little shop in Hollywood... We both were using his Stainless Steel strings
while we were at school, at the time. They had this sticky feeling that felt great for left hand technique; for the pull-off's.
The strings also had a "snap" to them and their tone sounded great.
I personally like his contributions to Fender with the Samarium Cobalt pickups. Great alternative to the vintage single coil without the 60 cycle hum.
Several years ago I got a chance to e-mail Bill thanking him for his work and wanted him to know
recalling how much I liked those strings. He wrote back with his appreciation...

Thanks Bill,
R.I.P.
