For Fans of early Rush - THIS is for you!
http://www.by-tor.com/multimedia/audio.php
Has a downloadable boot (Fifth Order of Angels) of Rush's 3rd show with Neil Peart from the Agora Ballroom in Cleveland in '74....direct from prebroadcast radio tapes...before Fly By Night was even released! The site also has mp3's of their first two singles....there are a few things on these that never made it to any albums like their cover of "Bad Boy and some early originals.
Interesting to hear how much of an influence Page's playing had on Lifeson in the early days. Oh, and if you hate the old Geddy "chipmunk-with-his balls-in-a-vise" vocals, you might want to pass these up.

I have a bootleg somewhere of a show at that same venue.
Might be the same one, but I'm on dial-up here!!!
On mine, it states they're touring in support of their first album.........definitely could be the same one....
Does it have "Fancy Dancer" on it??
I have also heard a bootleg from the "Permanent Waves" tour in which there is a pre Moving Pictures version of Tom Sawyer.
The lead is way different!!!!

Have you guys seen the Neil Peart animation of YYZ?
http://www.drummerworld.com/Videos/Neilpeartair.html
I love playing along with this. It's like playing with Neil
I even taught my 11 years old kid the timing on this
in the beginning, where the guitar and bass joins in.
He starts right on que with the drums.
To make the video, they had Neil put on some virtual reality gloves on and created it
lawnmower man style, and used older graphic software that insn't that advanced to draw the drums. It was a common program too, just forgot which one. (maybe 3d max or something. of that era)
I have midi file Backing tracks of of YYZ and Freewill that will play with Windows media Player or (Your favorite Software)
These files have the drums , bass, and keyboards and are really fun to play along with.
I saw them in concert on the "test for echo" Tour down here at the St Pete Times forum. Flawless
The drummer beating on 5 gallon buckets in the parking lot was fun to watch too.
I hope after Alex Lifeson's legal problems are behind him that Rush will still play in Florida. He had a scuffle with the police down in Naple's, FL
I think he's accused of pushing a cop down the stairs or something.

Yup, here's the track list:tonejones wrote:Does it have "Fancy Dancer" on it??
Stage Announcements 0:30
Finding My Way 5:07
Best I Can 3:03
Need Some Love 3:24
In The End 6:19
Fancy Dancer 3:54
In The Mood 3:25
Bad Boy 5:41
Here Again 8:02
Working Man 9:13
Drum Solo 3:09
What You're Doing 4:33
Garden Road 3:07
Great boot....the only issues is that some radio engineer got a little nuts with panning at certain points.
I've seen the 3D video but I never knew that Neil was involved with it...thought it was just done by a fan or something. I've also used Rush midi files as well as the original music to make "guitar only" tracks for a drummer/amp builder I know from another forum.

Thanks for the link.
I saw them June '04 at Redrocks. Killer show. The Medley at the beginning of the show was really cool. Anthem, Passage to Bangkok, Bastille Day, etc... Timing was perfect, all synched to an cool video/light display. Xanadu was the best number of the night, by far.
I don't think Alex gets the props he deserves. That guy can burn.

That is the bootleg I have for sure...
Hate that it was all recorded as one track though!!!!!!
this is why I have a huge RUSH tattoo on my left arm right underneath one of a Les Paul!!!!

That's a temporary Epi tat below....this was the 2004 summer NAMM show in Nashville.
I was passing by the Gibson booth while they were doing them, they shouted out and asked if I wanted one.....
I decided to be a smartass since they refused to sell me a T-shirt an hour ago (had a full display rack of I'm betting at least 100 shirts and was told I had to go to the Gibson store in Nashville if I wanted one).
So I said "Yeah, put it right below these!!!"

Without a doubt!!!!Alex Lifeson is one of my all time favorite guitarists, and he's a baddass to boot. They have such a big sound for only a 3 piece.
They are one of the tightest bands I've ever seen live.
The whole band kicks ass.
