Bon Jovi- Daytona 500- Blacked-out Marshalls
I could give a rat's ass about the race, NASCAR ranks right up there with watch paint dry for excitment value... Turn left, turn left, turn left, turn left...
Did anyone catch Bon Jovi opening teh race?
I just watched Bon Jovi, since Sambora is my main starting point for playing guitar.
I noticed the amps, obviously Marshalls, but teh head and cab emblems were blacked out with tape... and thought it was very strange.
I am wondering how much of those heads were actually Marshall, besides the Chassis and the cabs. There was way too many knobs for them to be stock Marshall heads. I'll bet they were customs or heavily modified Marshalls.
What kind of guitar was he using!??!?!
I couldn't read the headstock...

I seem to recall some Joisee myuzik schtore or another auctioning off 6 empty blonde Bandmaster heads that were part of Samboras' backline (well, that's their story and they're stickin' to it!) Maybe they just had a bunch of head cabs???
I also knew a man that had worked for Kiss waaay back in the day. Live sound engineer. Told me that Kiss' wall of Ampeg stacks had absolutely no electronics in them EXCEPT for the jewel lights!
Not necessarily to the point, but that's the kinda schtuff that goes on in the Big leagues.

His tone was rather ballsy... like a Marshall...
He had 2 half stacks, probably one with 2 cabs for the guitar and the other head for the Talkbox.
But I don't know about blacking out the names for NASCAR reasons...
Tico Torres' drum set had "Pearl" on the bass head...

As far as I know, Sambora now only endorses Zoom...Shredder wrote:It's also possible Sambora is endorsing another brand of amplifier than he actually uses in real life (what else would be new).
After Fender dropped him for his Stratocater (dumbasses), he has been using everything on stage. I have seen live shots of him playing:
Amps:
H&K tri-amp
/13
Marshall
Fender Showmans
Guitars:
Floyd Rose
Telecasters
Gibson L-6
Gibson V's
Les Pauls
Stratocatsers
and some I can't ID... like the one he was playing at Daytona

Just happened to be glancing thru a Carvin catalog last night and noticed that they offer double cream humbuckers (though they have a shitload of set screws in there and not be mistaken for a typical 6 pole bobbin). Wonder if Dimarzio knows (or cares) about it?
