I was reading at Drummerworld that The VH boys count Cactus as a big influence.

Looks pretty cool.

Evil is FUCKIN killer. Don't forget Parchman Farm and Can't Judge a Book.

Alsaka and Bro Bill are pretty funny little dittie's, too. I read that Rusty Day would come up with lyrics off the top of his head.

Jim McCarty was Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels' original guitarist in the 60s, then moved on and did the Cactus thing. His last claim to fame was in the late 70s & early 80s with the Rockets from Detroit also (remember their cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well"?) He has also been playing one-off gigs in the Detroit area the last few years (including Memphis Smoke in Royal Oak).

This stuff is KILLER! Definetely hearing stuff that I associate with VH, and a few others. Parchman Farm is just fun! I love boogie-rock stuff like that.

I sit in front of a computer all day, so a subscription to a music service is a great thing. I'm not necessarily endorsing Rhapsody - I've never tried a different one. It does have all kinds of old-school stuff I've never heard. I listened to some Albert King yesterday, including the SRV/Albert King In Sessions disc, and some old Albert Collins stuff last week. It's all there....

If you can find it, grab James Gang's version of "Stop/You're Gonna Need Me" from their old Live in Concert album. Pure, unadulterated heavy blues rock guitar and vocals...one of my fav Joe Walsh performances...sounds like a LP, Marshall, and echoplex in full force.

Hey, Mac.

My f'n PC would not boot up last night. Will not power up. Yet another project. I suspect the power supply but don't have time to troubleshoot right now. I have the Cactus files here at work but they are .wma files. Can you post those? I can try to download mp3 conversion software at lunch maybe if not.

Mark, can you play .wma files? I can send a couple of songs direct, too. Don't know which ones now though. They're all good!!

My Macs allways boots up... :D All 400 of them. Except one piece of shit server, which is why I am at work with pneumonia, and a very important gig on Saturday. Should be fun: Painkillers, penicillin, and one beer, and I´ll play like Jerry Garcia all night..

How big are your files, Chief ?

It's really hard to find any Cactus material now. You mostly have to get it imported. If you send me a private message, I would be willing to send you the 10+ songs to your e-mail. This would include the ones Chief mentioned.

...god dang that band was sooooooo good. Such great rhythm section, hot lead phrasings and total rock and roll vocals!
