It's a new day
Most folks here don't know that my day job and most nights of the week my job is as a critical care physician. 3 years ago I was sued by an unscrupulous family and lawyer. I was sued over the care of a patient that I had never seen. I won't go into the details, but this has been the most trumatic experience that I have ever gone through. This has shaken my belief in humanity and our judicial system. If you have never been involved in a lawsuit, you can not understand how these scum sucking lawyers take facts and twist them until they no longer represent anything resembeling the truth.
Well today the case was settled. I'm free and clear (as one should expect, regarding a patient that I had never even seen!). What really sticks in my craw is that the plantifs lawyer walked away today with a cool $650,000!
FUCKING LAWYERS!
Sorry for the rant, but this has consumed almost 3 years of my life. My wife, patients, and guitars have helped me through this. This web site has also given me an escape that was much need. Thanks.

Sorry for your troubles. Man, that sucks.
I know what you mean about lawyers. Evidently in Oregon they have the Getthefuckout law. That's where your wife can come home, say "Get the fuck out", and you gotta go.
Two cars, a house, a studio, and a son, gone overnight. The only thing she didn't get was my guitar. And that was the only thing that kept me sane for years.
After ending up in the ER with what I thought was a heart attack a wise doctor convinced me that it really wasn't worth hanging on to. So I just let it go and ever since then my motto is "Living well is the best revenge".
Hell, use it as inspiration and write a song about it, then move on.

I remember a story about when Czar Nicholos went to London in the 1800's. He saw how bogged down the British legal system was because of lawyers and when he got back home he promptly had half the lawyers executed.
Everybody loves to hate lawyers but when your in a jam they can save your ass so its a double edged sword.

Many years ago, when I was a lot younger and a WHOLE lot dumber, I used to like to drink alot. One night I got pulled over without a license, insurance, or a shred of sobriety, in a van that I didn't own.
I thought I was going to prison for sure. I contacted an attorney who attacked the first DUI conviction on Miranda issues and he had that one erased so it was like my first conviction. Had to pay alot of money, go to jail for a weekend, and got my license revoked, but no prison.
I LOVED that lawyer.
BTW at the time getting me off the road was the best thing the state ever did for themselves. I was an accident waiting to happen. And I don't drink to excess anymore

Hear that way too well.
We used to be proud of the fact that we "don't remember how the hell I got home last night". I thank the Big Guy all too often that I never got anybody hurt or killed. My angel must have been over my shoulder. The one time I did get pulled over and arrested for DUI I wasn't even drinking. On the way home from playing hockey where after the game the guys decided we won the cup and gave me a beer shower plus the brass knuckles and "ups" and the cops weren't happy with me.
After big $$$ to a good lawyer the DUI was dropped (I passed the breathalyser), the "ups" tested as caffene pills (thank God for bad drugs) and the brass knuckles (initally considered a DEADLY weapon) all reduced to "dangerous lane change" and a fine.
go figger...
My wife is a legal secretray for med malpractice defense. I can tell you some stories...
