Eternal problem - ground buzz

Post by NY Chief » Fri Mar 31, 2006 3:19 pm

Remember all those dive bars where when you plugged in your amp buzzed like a freakin mosquito??

Now that I finally have my music room failry done I've been playing my amps again. And....they're buzzing like mosquito's. At first I thought it might may confined to something I did wrong on my Metro 45 build but everything is buzzing. I bought one of those AC line check plugs (with the 3 lights that tell you polarity, ground, phase, etc ) and I did find a couple of things to fix this weekend. And I did make the rookie mistake of using a couple of dimmers in the room  . So I'll check that this weekend also.

What else should I look for? It's way bad.

Ditch the dimmers and run the amp power through a good power conditioner, should help. I was having same type of problems and discovered I have amp plugged into same power strip as my computer, switched the amp to different circuit and it quit buzzing.
