Best Sandwich Deal

Post by SpeedMetal » Thu Nov 11, 2004 2:50 pm

In the blue corner, fighting out of Burger King, The Whopper... buy one get one free.

And in the red corner, fighting out of Arby's, Regular Roast Beef... 5 for $5.55.

In a toe to toe death match who would you bet on?

I personally love them both.....but I crave those freakin' roast beefs.

That is a tough one. There's a couple days lunches there.

I can't turn down a 1/2 pound olive cheese burger from local franchise Halo Burger, myself.
Or how about another local favorite, Big John's Steak and Onion subs.

Yaya's Chicken.

China One chinese buffet.

Anyone ever eat at a place in Cleveland, down in the flats. I can't remember the name, it starts with a "p". Right across the street from Peabody's Down Under club.
They put anything you can think of on a big sandwich. Fried eggs, cole slaw, roast beef, vegetables, any type of meat. Good stuff.
I lived off those things for several days one time.

I'd have to go with Arby's on that one. I can eat two of them loaded down with Arby Sauce till it's running out of the sides and a giant thing of fries. :D

I'll stick with Whataburger's Thick an' Hearty Steakburger. Triple patty, triple cheese, grilled onions, A-1 steak sauce, grilled bun, side order of Fries with one onion ring, and a 32oz double chocolate shake for $5.35 after tax.

We do not have Burger King down here in my area of Texas anymore. They closed most of them down in Texas after they got sued when they were promoting those pokemon toys in their kid meals and some mother wasnt watching her kid and the kid got a piece of the toy stuck in his mouth.

As for Arby's I used to like them but if you could see what the kitchens look like in the ones down here you would steer clear.

I try to steer clear of buger joints, I don't know why - just do, so i'd go with arby's. Having said that, my favorite place is the Pita Pit in lansing... its heaven on a pita.

And did you ever notice how food tastes so much better after a night of heavy drinking, especially pizza... ?

I agree with you about the Burger Joints man. I try to steer clear of them since it is highly likely that i'll gain weight somehow this winter season, so i must my animal urge to eat for the winter. When i was with my last band, Burger Joints and Coney Island after shows were manditory. There was nothing quite like being in a Coney Island at 2:30 in the morning with all the other interesting people that show up around that time, which includes clubbers and other bands.

Greek place, huh? I might know a little something about those......

My great-grandfather jumped off a ship 4 miles off shore and swam to New York City. He pushed a hot dog cart until he could afford to bring my great-grandmother and my Yaya (grandma) to the US. He then moved them here to Flint, MI and opened a restaurant.

I still think every Greek man's dream is to own a coney island restaurant.
We can't help it, it's in our blood. We love to eat, and to talk. What better setting is there?

I will always have a grape vine growing in my yard so I can pick the leaves and make dolmades. Boiled grape leaves stuffed with beef or lamb and rice sometimes vegetables and seasonings.

Man, this food thread is the best. I'm going for a midnight snack.......

There's this sports bar and lounge, called the Time Out, near my house that I have been going to since I was in my teens and it's owned by a Greek father and son who's names are Vasilie and Taki ( not sure if that's the correct spelling) and they make the best baklava I have ever tasted other than the baklava made by the wife of my high school electronics instructor, who was Greek. She would make stuff and he would bring it in.

But, I love those two guys; everytime I go in there it's great because they just keep the place upbeat and cheerful all the time because they are out on the floor hanging out with the patrons. Taki always has a glass of wine in his hand too.

If you ever saw the movie " My Big,Fat,Greek Wedding"; it's like that. Always a good time going on.

Cool story George! Man I just loved those chicken Pitas and Souvlakis with a nice Greek salad with a lot of feta cheese in it, and that vinaigrette HMM! Not talking about those nice Greek patatoes and rice, oh yeah must not forget that Tadsiki as an hors d'oeuvre. That was my midnight snack last night

Greek food is a great eating experience.

George, you ever make it down to Greektown?
A family that lived in the neighborhood were I grew up has a restaurant there that they've been running forever. Nice folks.
I always hit Greektown before going to a concert at the Fox, State Theater, etc.
