Brian Setzer Christmas Extravaganza

Post by NY Chief » Fri Dec 15, 2006 2:53 pm

Going tonight in LA.

He's not a plexi player but he is a most excellent guitar player. He really knows the fret board and his big band has a great f'n sound.

Many moons ago, before the Cats when he was just a skinny kid with lots of tats (wait, he still is!) he played at a house party by himself in Massapequa, Long Island. I had the good fun to jam a few songs with him. He was playing Beck and Hendrix and Zepellin to the "T" even then.

Great show! That band rocks. All that brass is awesome. I think Setzer might have had a Mojave head on top of his 2-12 tan Bassman. I wasn't close enough to tell but it sure looked like a Mojave and he did have a bit more grit to this tone then I've heard before. Wouldn't surpise me. He does live in Indian Wells which is not far from Apple Valley where the plexipalace is. Setzer did seem a little tired, wasn't the best I've seen him play but he still rocked!
