Professional Music Center in West Des Moines has the Hendrix and JTM45/100 stacks. It's owned by Trent Litten, who used to be a partner in Last Chance Guitars. He really went the extra mile to make a locally owned store that is almost just as well stocked as GC, except Trent tries to bring in the high end stuff that GC doesn't think the central Iowa area is big enough to need.toner wrote:Which store is that? Just wondering what some of the best shops are down there (it's been a while).

Damn. You could add up all the GCs on the road from Philly to NY and you wouldnt find those 2 amps. Then again its rock land over there. Over here the section with turn tables and comuter stuff is probably larger.
Man, GC hater threads will never die here. Its too easy a target. Have you ever been in one and not noticed something completely retarded. The good thing for me is that Ive eliminated any need to go into them. Even for strings and picks. Id rather pay $5 shipping on a single pack of strings then buy a pack for $5 from GC or as we can now call it GuitarHomeDepotCenter.
And the exact Dubya quote is: "There's an old saying in Tennessee

I knew you'd say something like that. It's an easy target!Flames1950 wrote:Probably CR is held back by the industrial smell you enjoy coming into town from the south.![]()

I used to live on the south side and you speak the truth! CR is known as the "city of five seasons" but the "city of five smells" is more popular with everyone but the City Council.

Weeeelll...the GC around the corner from where I work in NYC (14th St) also has the JTM-100 and the Hendrix stack...I played through the JTM100 a few weeks ago. Their vintage section is fun to peruse (not price-wise) as they usually have a nice assortment...last time I went, they had a few super PAs, DR103, boatload of old Marshalls, voxes, fenders, and gibsons...and even a Selmer.Billy Batz wrote:Damn. Hey, nitro--if thats the same Selmer thats been floating around the other GC's in NY, take a look at the AC input cord... its the ultimate house fire waiting to happen, if they have not corrected it yet. (and knowing GC, they wont correct an issue like that, they'll just hope no one sees it, or they'll tell you its "supposed to be that way... its vintage"). Im pretty sure thats the same amp thats been in at least 2 other stores out on Long Island, doing the GC store rotation, since thats what GC does, rotate equipment equipment that doesn't sell between different stores, thinking/hoping that no one will notice...

I went back to look at the Selmer today. What was wrong with the cord on the one you're talking about? This one didn't have any tears or anything. The only thing was the Euro-style connector at the end (with two cylindrical prongs and no ground) but a lot of old amps are like that and while most people will replace with 3-prong cables, there are many that feel that replacing it mars the "all original parts" aspect of it.

Hmmm, the GC in Fountain Valley California STILL has their Hendrix and 45/100 stacks as well. Could it be Marshall missed the mark andNitroLiq wrote:Weeeelll...the GC around the corner from where I work in NYC (14th St) also has the JTM-100 and the Hendrix stack...I played through the JTM100 a few weeks ago. As with most topics, Iowa is a little different than NYC! Not a lot, just a little. Oh, who am I kidding? At least we have more parking spots! Yeah, that's it. Okay, I feel better now.NitroLiq wrote:Weeeelll...the GC around the corner from where I work in NYC (14th St) also has the JTM-100 and the Hendrix stack...I played through the JTM100 a few weeks ago.
