Same here. Absolutely one of the greatest notes ever played.

Buddy Mile's can sing ! I love his vocals on STOP ! That was some very heavy aggresive singing that Ozzy, Plant or any of those dudes at that time couldnt do (Though I loved hearing Marriott sure as hell try) I agree about that stuff on the other 'unedited' takes of "Them Changes". That "Gospel Church" sounding stuff just wasn't what Jimi was after. But hell, Buddy had great rhythm and as a drummer, everything else was a +. Hendrix's vocal's all but ruined alot of that stuff. I alway's think to myself, "C'mon you guitar playin' geek, you aint Erckell, sing that shit like you mean it. But then again, all that gettin' fucked up then sleeping for 2 or 3 day's straight sorta makes one weak and lazy. I hate to knock Hendrix, cause he was truley the most gifted soloist in all of electric music, but he stopped tryin' to sing well at around the time Chas stopped trying to get him to. Oh yeah, that first long note (BOG's "Machine Gun") was the single most awesome note of all time  .

WHAAATT??? Are you kidding? Zep I came out in '68 and II in '69...Buddy miles could do his thing and was solid on vocals and drums but man, there's no way in hell, he could touch Plant back then as far as singing power (and range). He was really good on a couple of tunes on an old Electric Flag album I had..."Killing FLoor" and "Texas"...Miles sang his ass off on the latter. In any case, I wasn't putting him down, I just remember watching some bio/documentary on Hendrix and they talked about how much Hendrix was annoyed with Miles' scat singing on the Fillmore stuff.

Yeah, that was coming from Eddie Kramer, who I believe. I agree most with the comments made by Jimi's roady, I know his face, but his name I forget. Eric Barret maybe ? He commented on how maybe Hendrix, was sorta 'threatened' by Mile's, with a comment like " There could only be 'one' star". I think that Jimi had difficulty in sharing the spotlight. I also agree with Barret about Jimi getting other people to do his dirty work, like fire Buddy Miles. That decision had been made before BOG's ever played a gig. Jimi's vocals, at there best, I liked. I really liked his vocals on the first two albums, and most of the third. I have problems listening to his vocal's after this, as they are often 'half hearted' in my opinion. I honestly dont feel that Robert plant had either the breath, power or range(maybe they are even here) of Buddy Miles vocally. Then or certainly not now. I often try to sing all this shit, so that's my opinion. I tell you though, for overall power and range, Yngwie's origional singer, who is currently touring with Journey, Jeff Scott Soto, is among the best I've ever heard. He lacks a bit of soul kinda feel, but still real good.

Buddy's annoying overbearingness really chaps my hide!
He actually thought HE was the star, or at least the co-star. They had to edit the crap out of the BOG LP just to get rid of Buddy's endless rambling. The unedited "We Gotta Live Together" is one of the most hideous examples of excess I think I've ever heard!

Yeah but the vocal trade offs in "Who Knows" and the vocal, guitar trade off in "We gotta Live Togather" were awesome !
