Told you remember? Used to be a pilot for Fedex doing cargo runs and saw not very reassuring things ones in a while.

Some ramp guy when seeing "fragile" on a box, would just kick the shit out of it, etc....

This can not be controled there assholes in all cargo company.

Pack the hell out of your stuff. A box in box with all the rest in between, and pack it as thight as possible with tuck tape etc........

I loaded trucks in high school at the UPS hub near me. Yes they were ball breakers about production and even when you were hurrying noone threw shit unless they just wanted to be fucking assholes. You have to pack each 'wall' well and you cant just throw it there it has to be placed so noones saving time loading by throwing things around. Thats purely about someone being pissed off and so they fuck with your package. Problem is if you damage a package theres nothing to worry about because noones going to do anything to you for it. Well, unless your jumping up and down on it or something. I agree its least likely the drivers in most cases BUT the problem with UPS is they dont take any real responsibility for damaged packages. If the money they paid out in claims was anywhere near what it would cost them to change policy or the way they do things then something might happen. Just avoid UPS. The only real way to ever win a claim is a totally lost package.

I see this same crap from UPS everyday. Some of the stuff that comes off the truck on our loading dock in the mornings is unreal.

We have had computer monitors come in with the box wet like it had sat in the rain or something and boxes split apart at the corners and the contents damaged and you could tell it had been thrown

Our UPS driver is a great guy and actually does care about the customers on his route but he sure takes alot of shit from the brass and I think it's because he only has 3 more years and he can retire from UPS and he thinks they are trying to get him to quit but he won't do it. It's stupid the way they treat some of their drivers.

I'm having a $2500 guitar shipped to me overnight air with early AM Saturday delivery for this coming Saturday. The UPS man better wake me up with a knock at my front door with a box that is COMPLETELY IN TACT!

I can always get another guitar, but not just like this one that I spent the last month looking for.
From past experience, You will either receive your package after 10:30am(cutoff time for early am delivery) OR you will have to wait until Monday. If you do get the guitar early AM Ill be suprised and happy for you. If you read the small print UPS does not guarentee early am weekend shipping to domestic addresses.

Thanks alot.

That's encouraging.

I'm already sitting here biting my nails down to the quick in anticipation then I see this post............

If it makes any difference, I am a business owner and although I run my business out of my home I had the guitar shipped to my business name, hoping that this would not happen. Hopefully the UPS man sees a business name and does not know that it's in a residential neighborhood.

I'll let everyone know.

You must have worked at a good hub Billy. I've seen many times where the conveyer belt gets backed up going to a trailer, and even the supervisors would have us open up the flaps for the false floor, unstop the chute (letting gravity load the bottom of the trailer for us without ever scanning a single package), then put down the false floor flaps and go on like nothing ever happened.
Let's get going, 'cause there's too much music, too little time!!!!

I shipped a mint condition Martin that I sold on eBay to a customer in Chicago....not only did UPS cave in the top, but then they would not reimburse me for my full insured amount. It took them 6 months to "determine value" and reimburse my customer!!!

Fedex is always cheaper and they do not break things.

However I think it is great when crap businesses put themselves out of business. Like H*** D****, crap service, their stock is dipping severely and Lowe's is gonna take over. Or Bl***Bu**** that takes it's customers to collections for a $3 late fee (happend to me)...now Net FLix is kicking their ass and that is forcing BB to cancel their late fees and go mail order. Competition in the market place is a great thing...

Tell me about it. I remember when BB changed their late fee policy to noon on the due day. Thats nothing short of a conspiracy to shake down more $$$. Im sure the late fees went up 10fold. What other reason is there? Theyre getting what they deserve now. I know localy Hallywould Vid sent BB pakcing. They must be getting their asses handed to them countrywide because they just got rid of the late fee policy all together. Their wholesome, family oriented CEO claims theyre doing it to better service the customer. Anyone here ever heard Carlins' take on costomer service?

The last guitar I sold on Ebay, the buyer actually requested UPS. I went to the shipping dept of the hospital i work at and got as much of that thick bubble type packing material as I could get. Double boxed the guitar. Packed the bubble between the case and both layers. I had heard all the horror stories. I offered to send it Fed Ex and he insisted on UPS. The whole time that thing was en route is was NERVOUS.
It seems like recently most places i've dealt with have switched to USPS.

UPS, FEDEX, PUROLATOR, or what ever beileve me there all the same shit. They are not better from one to an other.........Just pack the hell out of your stuff and hope for the best.

BTW George got the cab and it is great thanks, there is one little bump on the front side (not the cloth just the wood, the tolex is intact...) the shipping boxe took the impact it had a hole right there and the platic wrapping absorbed the rest. in the futur when shipping cab on the cloth side you should add maybe 1/8" wood sheet because 2 inch to the center my basket weave cloth would've been damaged real easy!!!!!!!!!

This is something I do pretty often. If The package is large like a combo or cab Ill use 1/8" wood or good card board over the most sensitive areas like the front. A layer or 2 of real heavy duty card board is almost as good and doesnt way as much. I really never had a problem like others have said here. Only with the one driver who droped my amp to be an asshole.

Well, UPS did not screw me.

My R8 showed up on my doorstep at 9:05 AM this morning, in good health I might add.

That was me. Thats pretty messed up. I seen guys do some dumb shit and plenty of guys I worked with had no problem ripping off something. Especially when the seasonals get furlo'd. I was younger at the time and I mostly thought the stuff was funny but Im glad I never took part in it.
