You might find this hard to believe, but one of my favorite things to do is ride my mototcycle in the city. Its a little like running full speed thru a dense forest trying to avoid trees, but somehow its also a pisser. My absolute favorite is to blast thru one of the tunnels on a bike... the reverberating engine noise is a thing of beauty.

and drive so aggressive people would think your ready to run down a sea of crossing school children.

Billy, I figured that out quick. Here is bits and pieces. When I came out of the tunnel iwas veering to the south if I can remember correctly. I knew I needed to go north, so I stopped with two wheels on the CURB and backed back up till I could Shoot through traffic and head north. Man people were pissed  . So After heading north, trying to get through traffic I started litteraly beating on the hoods of cabs with my hand to let me in while we were driving  . When ever I did have to double back I would wait till the light was yellow and do a big u turn in the middle of the intersection so as not to go onto all those 1-way side streets. My goal was to get stopped by a cop get a ticket then ask for directions  Then I finally looked up and saw the Airport icons on the light poles and started following them.

What an experience!

Sounds like you caught on quick!

fill, you are certified nuts riding in the City! (Although I'll give you that it is a rush!)

If you can drive in Manhattan you can drive anywhere! What do you think Jimi wrote "Crosstown Traffic" about???

It must be a bit like the speeder bike scene in Return of the Jedi.

I have no idea why I find riding in the city so appealing, but I do it a lot. I stopped at my boy Matts (30th St. Guitars), and they're all looking at me like "dude, you've GOTTA be kidding".
I dunno... I see lots of bikes in the city, especially on Sundays around Washington Square Park. There is a big-get together on 8th St near 6th Ave on Sundays. Its during the week that it becomes dangerous. (Well, its ALWAYS dangerous I guess).
Chief, you've NEVER ridden in the city?
Traveling one of the tunnels in 2nd gear with the revs up is like a religious experience.  / 8) 8)

Does it rival standing 2 feet in front of a roaring stack? Thats one of the loudest things Ive ever heard before. Maybe if you fire a shotgun in front of your ear. Or work on an aircraft carrier. Being front stage in front of a huge PA column at a Metallica concert was another time. I literally didnt know what songs they were playing unless I looked at their hands.

Ya beat me to it, Chief!! I mean, standing in front of a wide open, 100 watt full stack IS a religious experience FOR SURE, but there is something about hearing that motor sing its song (especially in a nice long tunnel, or on a deserted straightaway) that'll make your hair stand on end.
One of my bikes is a Suzuki Hayabusa (1300cc, 172hp), and the first time I saw the speedo cross 150mph was the same feeling. Just an indescribable, flat out rush.

Drove straight to the "new underwear" store after that.

Ah, c'mon...the city can't be that bad...ever see some of the traffic in southeast asia? No Traffic lights or signs...absolute free-for-all in all directions with motorbikes, buses, and cars. It's absolutely mad. I think here I'd be more concerned riding the BQE with all the bumps, potholes, and construction than regular local traffic, which tends to be so stop and go anyway. (It would suck to have an air-cooled engine...hehe).

Lane splitting in CA is legal (WTF?) so that helps.

An old friend loves to tell this story regarding potholes. He was driving on the LIE behind a bike. The biker hit a pothole, popped up off the seat and the bike went out from under him. He landed on his ass and kept sliding like he was still riding the bike. When he came to a stop he got up, brushed off his ass, picked up his bike, started it and got back on and on his way. Now THAT's a biker!! Was that you, fill?? :D

  I saw a youtube clip of a guy riding a wheelie on the intersate next to a bus or something. He went over and landed on his ass and skidded like he was still riding. the bike just veered off into the ditch it looked like. No doubt he got back on and rode off.

Nah, not me!! But, what NitroPete says is right. The BQE is bad... the Jackie Robinson Parkway (the old Interboro Parkway) is the WORST. Holes, curves, and tight corners...
(why is that bad on a parkway, and so desirable on a chick???)
