Most recently I just step on either my Keeley or my fulltone into the ft end of my clone and there's all the gain anyone needs, but with much more 3d clarity. If you dont like the pedal thing, and i never did, gotta try either Keeley or Fulltone. Changed my mind.
IMHO the Bogner is a killer amp, for what it is. A channel switcher. If you are playing out, and don't want to carry 4 heads a switching system and a few cabs it does a great job.
Yeah, I have a Bogner too. (A 1-12, EL34 Shiva combo). The trick to getting a fat tone from mine was to change the Celestion Classic 80 to an EVM12L speaker. That thing sings now, and is fat as a bastard tone wise.
I also have a Fulltone 10th Anniversary Mosfet pedal (the red one), but honestly, Im not that crazy about it. It does sound good, but its so neutral and "colorless" in its tone, that it almost lacks character to me.
One stomp box that REALLY changed my opinion of pedals is a Hughes And Kettner Tube Factor. Man, I LOVE that box. Its super fat sounding, and very smooth.
Im probably gonna sell the Fulltone pretty soon cause I really dont use it anymore since I got the H & K. Plus, Ive been getting into boutique-y fuzz pedals lately, and Im really diggin' them more than a distortion box.
I would always rather get my grind from the amp itself, but its fun to fool around with these boxes from time to time.
