I like shooting too Shane, I have a lot of guns and was just at the range the other day sighting in for the upcoming deer season.
It's a Rem 760 pump action rifle built in the early/mid 50's, and it's sweet. (.300 Savage caliber)
And before anybody say's anything about shooting the poor critters, I hunt up north on state land, and it's a huge challenge and accomplishment to bag a deer under those circumstances. We pack our gear in via a boat up a river into a swamp, and camp. I't actually a pretty cool adventure, and if you get a deer it's a bonus. Last deer I bagged was in 99', so it's not like shooting a cow standing in a field. And I respect every shred of meat that comes off the animal.
For skeet(and bird hunting) I've got an Rem 1100 that does a pretty good job, but i think i'd prefer an old Win model 12, or even a Rem 870.
And Shane, I've got a couple custom bolt action rifles I could be talked into parting with.

My Mom and step dad have a Skeet shooter on the back porch, at their plce in Cali.
Even my mom can shoot 2 at a time. I grew up around a gun collection that would make you shit. I've never had to buy any firearms, Venison, or Wild Hog.It pays to have biker friends.
I was going to go Deer hunting once, but the trip fell through.
I love Venison, and the Hogs they catch out here in Florida
with a pack pit bulls, that catch the Hog and hold on to it's ears, then they (the hunter not the dog) cut the Hogs balls off, and drop a bag of feed (the lazy nutless hog will just hang out by the bag of feed.) Then they come back (a week to a month?) later kill it, and now the wild taste is gone from eating the feed, and the hog will have bulked up
The meat is not like the Pork at your local store, and it's very lean.
Osama don't know what he's missing.

Doesn't that seem particularly cruel to you? Who's the hog here?

Yeah, I'm a hunter myself and to me that seems a rather cruel way to hunt a hog to me.
Now if you did it farmer style...where you catch the hog and take it to your farm and feed it like you would an actual farm animal, THEN kill it....that would seem like a more humane way to bulk up a hog.
The neutering part though...that's probably just to calm the hog down like it does on dogs and cats. But I'd have an actual vet do that.

Unless you're going veggy, the meat's got to come from somewhere.
What is more cruel, cutting off their balls or killing them?
As far as cruelty goes, they slaughter, and cut off more balls on farms. Dog's are there just to hold the Hog down (by the ears), the Hunter come back and kills the Hog weeks later. Probably as quick a death as on a farm. The meat is used for food.
I've never hunted hunted personally, but would do it to feed my family,
I was going to go once, and the deal fell through. No biggie.
I have nothing against those who hunt, I eat meat, how can I?
What's the difference if they cut off their balls in the wild, or on a corporate farm where they're injecting antibiotics, horemones, and who knows what else. I guess it's all the way you look at it.
Warning:
Horrible farm ball cutting story below.
Do not read if you are sqeamish about ball cutting.
You've been warned!
I once set foot on a farm in Miraloma, Ca (long story) and saw a big fat farm lady cut off a Horse"s balls with an old rusty pocket knife. Me and my bandmates had to turn away, as she just let them fall into a empty big gulp cup. She tied the horse's legs, gave him somehting to relax (not a pain killer) him, and she just went to town. When she's was bent over her ass was side by side to the horse's ass, and bigger than the horse. That bitch enjoyed maing us sqirm. She was laughing. My friend dad joked, that that bitch probably crazy glued them on to her to be a man.
I promise to never talk about ball cutiing again

From what I hear, Hog cathing with these pitbulls is VERY dangerous.
This isn't yuppie hunting from a tree, with your grey poupon and Zima. This is Larry the cable guy git r done/ catch and temporarily release a dangerous territorial hog, and hope he don't chase you when you release him. One of the pits, is called an anchor. (I guess that's the one that holds on to the ears?) They're huge Pits, at least 150,and one false move and these hogs can kill them, or the hunter.

I don't know exactly, but I hear the full grown males get pretty damn big, which suprised me because the one's I've seen driving by Mile Marker 190 on I75, don't look that big, but I was told, if you mess with little one's (about the size of a large dog), big daddy is not far away in the bushes, and ready to protect. And he will fuck you up.
Then they get even bigger after they've bulked up on feed.

Full grown feral hogs which are nothing more than wild domesticated breeds can get upwards of 450 pounds plus. Russian boar can easily tip 600 pounds. Where I live though they do not get this big, but in other parts of the country they can. Any of your guys hear of Hogzilla? That was an 800+ pound feral hog which had been eating a fish farm's growth food for the fish.
