i use the two marshall jcm 900's for stereo power( effect returns ) and run my pod pro xt left and right out into each half stack. every now and then if we have time at sound checks ill plug in to one of the 900's - they alwasy sound like poop to me
i dont know that my builds will ever end up on the road mainly they because they probably would get beat to shit in one trip - i can always hear when they throw my shit on the planeas well as their are tones in the band that i couldnt or should i say i wouldnt use my amp build(s) for- for me its all about the right tool for the application.
Uuugghh, 900's....I couldn't see them clearly and thought maybe they were 800-series 2210's, a much better amp.........

Mark the reason you use PODs is pretty much teh same reason I used my SLO for years. I just needed something that could be flexible and could just plug into anything on hand and always work. Im not crazy abotu the tone but it is a good one and sound guys love it. Cuts and gets the job done but if it was my own thing its marshalls all the way.
Every time I buy a POD I have such a love hate thing going on. I love all the sounds and plying with no volume. I love the ease of recording stuff. But then Ill always try and make it better until Im pissed that it doesnt sound like a amrshall or fender etc.. I guess Im too obsessive to own a pod.

I have an XT Live , I was using it when I play very late with headphones not to disturb my wife or the neighbors at night. I compaired it with my buddys Vox Tone Lab. The Vox sounds 10 times better than the line 6.( for a Digital Modeler) Since that day I have not touched the XT Live, close but no Cigar

YOu know I played a Vox modeler once in a store for the helluvit and I have to say I was impressed myself as well. I even told my buddy if he could afford it he should pick one up since he just needs something that sounds good quiet by himself with lots of sounds to keep him interested. From that one experience I think they are much better then PODs. Actually I think they just do the clean/OD thing better. I didnt see many of the big gainy sounds out of it.

I'm using one of those (now defunct) Johnson J-stations which is like the original pod, ecept this was a tad cheaper and had spdif i/o as well as analog. I hate doing leads through it as there's no speaker breakup or anything but the end results aren't too bad, especially for late night idea generating. It tends to record a bit bass heavy out of the gates, though. Here's a little goof clip of what it sounds like:

The Tonelab SE at least has 1 12AX7 to give it warmth and a little feel.
IMO the effects are more convincing and the amp models sound more realistic than the line 6. The only thing I will give line 6 is the Delay is better on the POD .
