NY Chief...ok, when you're ready to talk about C5 upgrades let me know. I've got the final upgrades (that I know of) showing up this week, which is the new Granatelli X-over pipe, and new cat back exhaust from there. I put in the Granatelli CAI (dual filter) and the MAF sensor (CAI tuned version, not the standard), plus the 0 ohm resistance wires, new plugs, and had the computer remapped by my local tech (who owns a 2001 Z06).

One of my buddies talked me into a Vegas run, and I had clients to see there, so we took off on Wednesday and came back Thursday. I know what the "official" mpg rating from Chevy is (15 city, 23 hwy) is for a 99 C5. So you can imagine my surprise when I averaged 22 city, 28 highway mpg (going 80 with the A/C on and two guys in the car) going to Vegas and back, including some significant freeway delays (45 minutes to go 1 mile in Jean, NV 30 miles short of Vegas).

Apparently the X-over pipe and exhaust will add another 1mpg, plus another 15-20 hp to the equation. So I'm figuring I'll be pushing around 420hp with some decent gas mileage to boot with all of these bolt on upgrades. After this I'm done, though, since the next thing to consider is a camshaft/lifters/valve springs/headers, yada yada yada.

I'm not going to turn that many wrenches any more...just change the oil, filter, anti-freeze and that's it. Call me when you're ready.

The entire wheel assembly came off in one piece , caliper and all….on the freeway….doing 70….luckily I felt a tug and decided to get off the freeway. Just as I got the truck pointed towards the off ramp she let go. I slid down the ramp on three wheels and the right A arm.
Yeeow!! That coulda ended up being REAL fugly if you didnt react to that tug. I hate hearing shit like that... the thought of mechanical failure has always given me a bit of a stomach flip.
:hide:

Glad to hear you're ok, Chiefy... rubber side down, always!!
Thanks, Bro. Yeah, I felt the first tug to the right and said "uh-oh, that feels like a whell bearing" a bit later a second tug and I said "shit, that IS a wheel bearing, better get off the freeway..." It coulda been real ugly, I easily coulda rolled if that A arm caught in the roadway. You guys would be proud though, my most pressing concern was my '59 Bassman in the bed of the pickup. I woulda PISSED if she went rolling down the highway!

420 hose pressure? NICE? I'll give you a shout son Jimmy. Been busy with work, the HOG club, a couple of bands and been doing a lot of shootin tuning up in case the SHTF scenario roll saround....
