Yngwie lessons for you!

Post by yngwie308 » Wed Jun 28, 2006 5:56 pm

Miaghty Mike,
Yngwie did drugs in the eighties as he freely admits.
If you have seen him recently,he actually plays faster and cleaner, with cleaner being the operative word.
Which VHS tape are you refering too?
It is easy to knock Yngwie,it is harder to be like him,

I think it's the same video, that the guy is making fun of in the beginning of this thread.

Dont' take it so seriously. A lot of us had the sniffles in the 80's.
That why I just thought is was funny. Brought back memories.

Cool Mike,
Don't mean to be defensive,I'm just so used to having to defend Yngwie, just because he is Yngwie!
There is room for everyone in this world.
If you are a maestro as Yngwie clearly is ,it is hard to function in a group setting, and it is unashamedly about Yngwie, bottom line.
Wnen I saw him in Tucson last Nov.,I couldn't believe how light his touch on the strings is and how he effortlessly plays the most amazing guitar music.
I just enjoy listening to him play,as his mastery of the instrument is so complete.
Regards

I totally understand, being a VH fan. 8)

Look at it this way, I respected his musicianship
enough to buy his VHS tape, and VH enough to clone
his amp.

Yngwie lessons for you!

Thanks all for your attention,my wife says I am being very angry most of the time, and she may well be right.
I will chill out and know that being Marshall mavens you all appreciate Yngwie, for being a true Marshall devotee,at least.
Has anyone tried to dial in the Yngve tone at all?
I know he uses early seventies big box MK II metalfront Marshalls, and prefers front end boost, with DOD 250,or Yngwie308 DOD cone in front end, with Boss NS-2 Noise suppresion unit.
Also his preference is for power tube distortion, not speaker breakup, using 75 watt Celestions, for this purpose.
In a home setting, this is a little tricky to dial in,as the head must be wide open,to acheive the desired power tube breakup.
Yet in all his instructional videos,Yngwie has that compressed type sustained tone at much lower volumes.
This has always confused me to some extent.I know a few years back he used a Johnson Station,as a preamp type boost.
Would a Keeley type,or Ross compressor help with the Yngwie308 pedal?
Or some have suggested he uses two Yngwie308/DOD 250 pedals in series to get this.
I also have read that the Yngve has also used plexi 100 watt heads, mixed in with the JMP 50's.
And that live he has one stack that is effected, and the others have the direct sound,he using only the bottom 4X12's.
I have been frustrated, lol, not angry!Over not being able to dial this sustained tone in,I know a lot is in the fingers, but he only has to touch the strings lightly to get this singing, sustained distortion.
Any ideas fellows?
Again I don't ever want to engage in aggressive style forum posts, there are enough of that kind of noise already!
Appreciate how helpful and informational everyone at the Metro forum is.
