hi,

i have to say i agree, shippers suck !
i never had a thing really broken even if i saw some of my big parcels arriving in a not so great shape but i agree they dont care and make you a hell of a life to get some money back if something happens.
i have to say that for international shipments, i had some problem with fedex, which doesn't seem to deliver directly to your place anymore if there is some fees to pay !
usualy they came here to deliver and i paid at the door to get the parcel but now, they try to reach you and don't really care if they can reach you or not; 3 days later they send back the parcel and you have to pay again !!
they don't give a shit wether shipment cost 300 or 400 $, they send back without taking the timre to really contact sender and get the info from him to deliver , whereas they have the good address to deliver !!
buisness is fucking buisness !!!

i worked at ups in france ...you cannot imagine the pression at work ...the boss is always responsible for the broken stuff....pushing for more and more fastness ...when loading in a truck or out we were just two guys working only with our own hands...huge televisions,40kgs boxes of paper ,always stuff like that ...after the second truck in the night i assure you that even a tough guy is totally broken and we had 4 trucks a night .... sometimes a package falls down du to the ways they are placed in the truck ...they are often loaded so fast that the placement is done in a silly way ...the heavyer packs on the top then scratching the lightests during transport and so ... ...this is always the same shit with huge compagnies ..not time , no pleasure to work in ,no ethic ...and no way for a single employee to improve this ....even well motivated...added to that generally the boss dislike much the guys that work well ....i've been fired because after an incident in the truck the boss feared me to tell he was not there in the company when it happened which is completely illegal !! As you sayed it ...suckers

My brother worked for UPS here in NY, and says the same exact thing, Frenchie. He HATED working for them, and I gotta say that they are my least used shipping company if I can help it. They've broken 2 guitars shipped to me, and lost stuff that I've shipped out. It seems pretty obvious that its all about numbers and money, and they really have little regard for the possible importance of what they're shipping and to whom its getting shipped to.

I just filed a complaint against a guy at a UPS Store. I shipped that clone cab with the space on top to Vermont. The guy sold me on the extra packaging right? He says my box wont work. That was on saturday. On Monday MY BOX arrived at my work cause the jackass didnt even take the Mojo Music label off it that was addressed to me. THEN it was damaged on top of it all. The guy in Vermont is a word worker so he was ok and familiar with UPS problems. So I not only got my extra shipping charges back but they also gave me my base charge. I hope the jackass Mr. Shaw at the Westminster UPS store is fuming. dot head thief. relax... some of my best friends are from India......................yeah right. Were all screwed. when all the people of the muslum of hindu nations own all the small business in America through low interest rate loans, were all screwed. That aint racism, thats a fact jack.

Anybody know how much The UPS "Stores" add to shipping costs? Same with Kinko's / FedEx? How much do I save if I go straight to UPS or FedEx? Can you even do that anymore?

I need to ship an acoustic guitar that I just sold on ebay. Who should I use? Obvioulsy NOT UPS.

I'd proabaly use FedEx, Chief. They're better than UPS, and you can still track and insure the guitar. I've never had anything broken or lost by FedEx, but Im pretty sure they would be capable of that. :? :? :?

See... I TOLD you that you were runnin' low on your "NY". The natives in the land of guacamole dip and "Val" talk have finally broke ya down, my man. Better buy that return trip ticket before its too late!!!
(Seriously, that sounds like a LOT to ship an acoustic. UPS woulda been cheaper for sure, but then again, they broke a BEAUTIFUL acoustic sent to me last year).

Hold on fill, I gotta finish my vente vente, tutti fruity, quad shot espresso vanilla cream, quacomole flavored, tofu blended foo foo special....

...........NOT!!!!!

People still get pissed at me when I ask for a "regular" coffee and God forbid, a "breakfast special".

I coulda did ground transport for about $60 but didn't trust the axe on a truck for week for 3000 miles. I should have done my homework better but that's the first guitar I shipped OUT. They always seem to be coming IN!!! And I wanted to give it a shot of getting to its new owner in one piece. Lesson learned....

I love my Starbucks, but I've NEVER ordered anything but a regular coffee. No "tofu blended foo-foo specials" for me either!! Makes me wanna puke seeing some Wall St. type listing-off a coffee that takes longer to order than to drink.
Same goes for those dumb ass boutique beer-bars:
NO, dude, I DONT want your "lightly warmed" honey/chocolate, blueberry/granola wheat beer, even if it IS the premium beer of the new millenium. Howbout just a fukkin' cold Bud... bud??? :? :? :?

I've been working for a cie similar to UPS (can't say the name, but they are all the same). I have seen many time some flying package in the warehouse. Once I've seen a guy throw a brand new iMac box 10 feet in the air, he doesn't want to deliver that one because it was too far away from the sector where he needed to deliver all other package.

But UPS might be the wordt at it. I have received 2 Marshall a few years ago, a 1959SLP and a JCM800 2003. both amp had been packed by UPS, and the amp were in large box, and only 1/4 of the box was filled with (how do you call thoses thing they put in box that looks like peanuts) ? The front of the JCm800 was badly bump. I had to fix it with an hammer.
