Ed's cool move to put the black/yellow Strat in the Kiss coffin.
RIP Darrell.

He could sure play. One thing I can never figure out is all these kids freaking out on all the squeals he does, like they are the hardest trick to do. Squeals are easy.yngwie308 wrote:Found this Dimebag link on a Dean forum:

The two tricks I have never been able to master are the pick scrape(mine always sound weak as hell), and that effect you do when you trill on the fretboard and then move your picking hand towards your fretting hand, while using the side of your picking hand to hit the harmonics to create a wierd, glassy flanging effect(listen 3-4 seconds in on the first lead break in Slayer's Captor of Sin).

The trick with the trill is to put the string that your trilling in the crease of your hand. That way there you mute the other strings while the trilled string is just lightly touched. I figured it out from watching a VH solo about 50 times. He did it on the top three strings in a row, one after the other.
As for the pick scrapes I've found that if you have less distortion it works better. And scrape from the D string to the low E.
Your milage my vary,
Mike
