Steve Cropper: Yess. Noone cooler. Love that style.
James Jamerson: McCartneys main man..
Jimmy Nolen: Invented his own style. And if you play funk you are playing Nolens riffs.. Kiss/Prince = Nolen
Eddie Hazel: Maggotbrain. Yess
Sco: Prefer him Live...
Jaco: Saw him do "Purple Haze" with Weather Report  I Was working up "A remark you made" Beck/Jimi/Mayfield style. Maybe I should finish that..
Django: Two fingers. How the F... did he do it ? Saw a Gypsy Jazz band in Paris last year who played that style. Had a Django clone, I´d love to be able to play rythm that way. And for some unknown reason there was a lingerie show right afterwards. Great combo !
Tal Farlow: Ahh.. Those chords..
Prince (yeah thats right  ) Split him ways and you´d still have three unreasonably talented guys.. Saw a show on TV where he sang, danced, did James Brown os steroids, Played great jazz piano AND guitar, Hendrix/Santana style leads, some drums, and had a basketball court onstage and just score. three times in a row... It´s not fair ! And he writes and produces and, and, and. He IS great !
Chris Wood (MMW)
Martino
Anastasio: Don´t get him. He can play but.. Same with Garcia for me.
Ford. Off course !
David Walker: Who is he ?

Great players Billy. Really got me thinking about a lot players I haven´t thought of in while. Thanks.

Well most of what I read already is a given. There isnt a guitar player who wrote more unforgetable hooks then Cropper. The thing he's famous for that always makes me laugh is he'll take a rif he made from one of his hits, and turn them around and play them backwards and write a new hit!

Im more into the Motown Jamerson actually: http://www.bassland.net/jamersonhits.htm
He played bass with only his index finger of his right hand.

David Walker played guitar on Innervisions.

Jaco's from the area. Theres a park near me named after him.

Me too. Love Motown. It was the first music I really immersed myself in.
But none of the players were credited, so when they asked MacCartney who his influences were, he said "That guy from Motown" I thnk he did a tribute to him at some point.
