Wow, that was a really depressing wake up call. I'm completely tone deaf!

I've gotten worse since my music theory days. I used to always associate intervals with certain songs to help me out. For example:

perfect 4th (wedding march...here comes the bride)
minor 3rd (Brahm's lullaby)
perfect 5th (2001 theme)
minor 7th (star trek theme)
minor 2nd (jaws theme)
etc.

Difficult though when they'd reverse the notes.... Sight singing and ear training...*shiver*...the memories.

I do the same thing. The first two notes in "The Simpsons" theme song are a diminished 5th.

Hahaha - my music theory geek son likes to use that same example - aka a tritone.

edit: his comment: "Oh sweet. 92% after 32 tries. Those minor 6ths always get me." Spoken like a true theory geek.
