Hey Mark,

Most whole wheat bread has either maple syrup, honey or corn syrup...brown sugar too.

If you google this you'd be sure to find the same in most recipes for whole wheat bread.

I don't know why they make it with those ingredients. But I do know that white bread is much scarier as it becomes a simple sugar once you digest it - totally empty calories.

Go to the health food store and ask for sprout bread. It is made from whole live sprouts, wheat, rye and other grains it is by far the healthiest and purest bread on the market. Terrific stuff but not for making sandwiches.

I buy Aunt Milli's 12 grain whole wheat/grain bread, and it does have corn syrup in it, but the yeast uses that to make the bread rise.
It has 21 grams of carbs, with 6 grams of fiber, so one slice has 15 net carbs.
The slices are big, hefty and chewy, I use it for sandwiches all the time.

It's the only way that you can reduce the salt in it too. My 4 kids demolish a large loaf in 20mins whilst it is still hot.

......and yes what is UT?
