One of my favorite all -time solo's is the one Gary took on the studio version of the Thin Lizzy song "Still In Love With You". All the fills and the middle solo with its suedo "tapping" sounding hammer on's and pull off's. really intice, but the outro solo kills me . Some of those notes, as well as the backing chords /bass ,make for some "more than words type feeling" that just tear jerk the hell out of me. I so miss the collaborating of Lynott and Moore, like "My Sarah", which was as pure as the water in a highland stream.

Also found an interesting clip that this guy did on an '02 R8 Historic with a BB2 in the neck and a BB3 in the bridge. He has done the PG mod and flipped the bridge pickup magnet replacing the alnico 5 with an alnico2,very interesting tones....

So some interesting Les Paul tones through mostly Fenders for that Fleetwood Mac authentic tone, what do you all think??

Yes that was the famous Greeny serial # 9-2308 once owned by Peter Green and purchased from Selmer's music shop in Charring Cross Rd.,London, and sold to Gary Moore by Peter for the sale of Gary's S.G. and some paltry cash. All the Bluesbreaker's songs and the famous Fleetwood Mac tunes were recorded with this guitar.
It was sold to a dealer in North Carolina by
Gary for an undisclosed fee,see earlier thread about Greeny Les Paul.

So there is hope yet...

It looks like Gary still has 'Stripe' the '59 Burst featured on Still Got The Blues,#9-227,hoorah!!
Found this older Montreux Over The Hills And Far Away,Gary's playing a Fat Strat!

Leader, that's why it's great we are all different,I like The Messiah Will Come Again, from the Montreux Jazz Festival show as a blues workout from Gary.
The clip from Wembley was the first Gary played while recouperating from his hand surgery and he ,too me,is obviously struggling to me as he plays,so that is the reason I can't really watch it.The Texas Blues clip on the same guitar is a more exciting clip to watch. As far as DSL's go you and many, many others like their choice of Marshall a lot.And I myself have had two Crate Vintage Clubs, which those who know, totally revere, but most would say Crate make crappy amps.So I play what I feel is a good amp for me.In the past I have made many remarks regarding DSL's in conjunction with Gary as both George and myself have multiple times attempted to get Gary to try Metro amps, with no success.
My favorite Gary tone is his eighties, early to mid, with the 1972 Super Bass.Gary's playing is Gary, and he is killer, thanks for the appreciation of him,my dissatisfaction with his use of DSL's also stems from how he uses so many pedals in front of them, which super saturates the tone for me.
This makes the attack and decay of the played notes sound odd to me.
I see you have Angus on your avatar so you must like AC/DC,they are classic Marshall users to the bone!Jeff Beck's current setup is two DSL50's and he makes them sound great,so..

I'm a huge AC/DC fan. The reason I found this place is because I want to build the JTM45 kit. I don't stick to one kind of tone. I am a die hard Marshall fan and have been for many many years. I like the simplicity of the AC/DC sound but I also dig the complexity of Gilmour's tone. I am a huge effects junky with 13 BYOC pedals on my board and then there is the rack gear. I use alot of effects on my clean sound but just a little clean boost on my dirty and maybe some delay.
I was a kid in the 70's and grew up on the Plexi tone. I'm gonna start off with the JTM45 kit and take it from there. Gary Moore definitely has that classic Marshall tone that I like.
