Child In Time is Deep Purple. I doubt that would have been in Twister.

Well it's a decent movie, it's just that there is a part where they play a snipet of "Child In Time", where Blackmore plays some of the deepest classical minor key licks I've ever heard (all with that great strat neck pick-up tone of his) It's not on the Movie soundtrack (but Van Halen are). I do have the live in Japan album, thats packed away, so I'll have to pull it out. C'mon Chief, I aint never gonna confuse Blackmore with Slash .

While I found out that the "Made In Japan" version isnt it, I found myself floored by it regardless, after havent heard it in years. That extended solo is great ! I can see it's influence. Schenker and Roth, though both are complete origionals, obviously listened to Blackmore. EVH !, damn, he certainly listened to alot of Blackmore ! I hear it instantly. Hell Chief, no apologies needed, Hell you heard Blackmore sweeping on that version of "Strange Kind Of Woman "( The One that also had "Lucille"), so I know you Know What I'm talking about .

Yeah when Gillan said 'Lucille', you knew it was on. I also love the aggression they gave the song.

That liquid neck pickup sound on "Made in Japan" was one of my benchmark tones when I first started playing guitar...that and the lead to "No Quarter" on TSRTS. I used to want to sing before picking up guitar and I remember being about 11yrs old and trying to copy that really long Gillan scream at the end of...I think it's "strange kind of woman"...been awhile.

I always liked how he did the long scream...then another one...then is like "Oh my soul...I love ya baby...OW!!"...should've been "Oh my throat! OWWW!"

Yeah, his screams were going in a bit of a divergent path as most 'Rock' vocalist of that era, who simply did thier best to sound black, like Paul Rodger's, who is great, but fairly predictable. Gillen sounded different. I think that part in "Strange.K.O.Woman" where he and Blackmore trade off is kinda funny, like when Gillen is singing that arpeggio "Do ba da dooooo !" He almost sounded insane, retarded, crazy or all three, but hey, it was DIFFERENT from the standard rock/blues fare of the day. I'm really likeing that first Rainbow album alot lately too. Dio and Blackmore were great togather as well.

Glenn Hughes was another guy...man, there's a line in "High Ball Shooter" where he just digs in "You rea-LAAAAAAAAAAY dug the show"...coke screaming. I always dug where he and coverdale traded off like in the above tune and "Lay Down Stay Down".
