He was out of line I thought. I say hippies in a good way. I love the starship/ariplane people. I even like the era that everyone else hated. Beautiful Stranger etc. I thought they had a cool lead tone that neck p u thing.

oh i get it now. ;)
i think of us more as 80's chidlren.
realize that Mickey didnt even get into starship till 79 (their first hit with him, Jane) and really had alot to do with all the 80's hits from Starship in the 80's.

Well I should probably stay out of this but what the hell. I think ****** is jealous. I mean let's lay it plain. Rockstah you were a pain in the ass that first month. You asked too many questions and wouldn't take no for an answer. I distinctly remember ****** telling you he learned by trying and you should do the same thing and that he wasn't going to give you the answers. Now two years later you didn't just fade away or get bored no you worked your ass off did more experiments then 40 guys in ten years and now you know what you're talking about maybe even too much for some peoples comfort.

Faulting your playing is just silly. I bet anything you put the same effort into learning to play as you did in the amp thing probably more.

Hey were all here for the fun of it right so let's not let anything spoil that.

I was gonna stay out of it too, I've been following that thread, and I bet there is a bit of jealousy involved, especially after he thought it was a Merc OT at bedroom levels, and it's George's Dagnall clone!!! 8)

That said, the guy does know his shit, just wish he'd answer a question direct and to the point, instead of trying to impress people with his extensive technical knowledge.
He gives the history of the sundial when all you asked for was the time. :?

thank you for saying so. seems u pretty much nailed it 908ssp. i don't know why he would be - hes been doing it for so much longer and has so much more wisdom.

lately it seems i have perhaps pushed the envelope and rubbed some people wrong. never meant to do that. i can get intense with my purposes and passions... building amps. playing guitar etc.

example: i post a clip trying to get a vh tone - someone responds with ' that doesn't sound anything remotely like vh.. my response out of knowingness i have gained from experience maybe to say back to him" u wouldn't know tone if it hit u in the head! ok ok....i may need to work on containing myself in these type of situations. :D

anyway i have blast in the forums and tweaking amps. all in the name of tone and knowing amps. i would hope to not rub people wrong but it seems at this point it may be just inevitable. I'm not a dick as i was called recently here on the forum. I'm always willing to work things out
i guess i sometimes get lost in that i have tried this and i have tried that.

i have always given right back to the communities i have gotten it from for the next person to have and learn from.

so ****** may feel I'm getting big headed? and try and put in my place it seems... all i know is I'm where I'm at because of where Ive been... where i have traveled... what i have experienced and i have never claimed to be or do anything more than that.

I can say first hand Mark helped me out on a couple of occasions with questions and even followed up with additional troubleshooting suggestions, etc. FWIW, his diagnosis on a parasitic oscillation problem was dead right and had some (self proclaimed) techs stumped. Not only that, but he is a successful guitarist who has "made it" so to speak with a name. Boy is it easy to talk the theory and criticize sitting behind a keyboard, but it's not easy to walk the walk, and Mark does it. Talk is cheap.

In two years, starting from scratch Mark has helped hundreds of readers from around the world build a Marshall.

For a long while there, it seemed we were all wondering how to get a grindy little Marshall at any volume, plugged straight in. He showed us how to do it with all the pics and clips to go with it.

And to top it off - WITH MODERN TUBES!

That is a very important contribution to the DIY guitarhood.

You did seem a lil bratty to the guy that said it didn't sound like VH. We all should remember that peoples opinions on guitar sounds is 100% subjective and there is always more than 1 way to get things done.

Cheers
