I have two kids. My daughter Sam is 2.5 yrs. old. My youngest, Sydney is 5 months old. Here is my schedule Mon thru Fri

Work 8:00 to 5:00
Drive home 5:00 to 5:30
kids/Dinner 6:00 to 7:00
Sam's bath/scream 7:00 to 7:30
kids play/scream 7:30 to 8:00
Try to get Sam to sleep 8:00 to 9:00
Sydney's turn to scream 9:00 to 10:00
Sleep.....

Weekends consist of WalMart/Hell and other shopping for a couple hours. Then I can always get away for a couple hours on Sat afternoon. Then my schedule is identicle to every other weeknight.

Sunday afternoons I can usually get away too.

I haven't plugged a guitar into an amp at my house for over a year probably.

When can I have my free time back? Wife keeps telling me it will get better when they get a little older. I have my doubts that I'll ever have time to routinely practice guitar for YEARS.

correct me someone...

Personally I treasure the time on weekend afternoons when my son is napping........I also stay up far too late most nights, just so I can work on amps or play unplugged a while.

I get Sat and Sun afternoons free usually when my daugters and wife are napping too.

Plan on building an extension on the back of the garage next spring. That will be my new man-castle.

Oh, God... I REALLY hate to get in on this one, but I thought the thread was interesting. I dont have any children, only dogs, so... my day: Wake up around 5am. Go to the gym. Come home, shower and then head to work, where I am my own boss. Leave work somewhere between 2 & 4pm. Go home, walk the dogs. 3 options now: Grab the bicycle and ride around the city, grab the motorcycle and head out wherever, go to the studio and blast on guitar. Come home around 6:30 and have dinner with my wife. 3 more options: Watch TV, fool around , or go out with my wife and walk around the city. Come home, hit the bed, wake up and repeat. The weekends (always 3 days) are much the same, without the work part. It sounds great (and it is) but EVERYONES got their problems and issues, including me. Living in this town is EXPENSIVE AS SHIT, and between that and the hobbies, it will stretch anyones dollars, unless your last name is Trump. Well anyway, on the flip side, Ill never know what its like to watch my wife give birth to a child. Ill never know what its like to have a child call me "Dad". Fathers day is like any other day of the year to me (my dad is gone now). Christmas is just me and my wife and my dogs. See, it all equals out in the balance. If I didnt get along with, and love my wife so much, my life would be pretty empty, cause other than her, I have my dogs and my friends. So, it aint always greener on EITHER side of the fence, but it IS good to be happy with what you do have.

I am going to be a dad in Nov... can't wait to see what that will be like...

I am realising now that having kids gives you the holidays back... like Xmas and halloween and easter... I am 30 now and could not give a flying FK about Xmas and Halloween...

But I now see that when I have a kid I will want to give him a nice xmans and dress him up for halloween and go trick-or-treating .... I think it's the kids that keep it all alive... and perhaps will keep me alive... or kill me... not sure yet... He better like music... little bastard.... well he will be (technicaly...)

I had/have the best (and worst of both worlds). Bachelor 'till 42 then inherited two teenagers when I married the love of my life. Do I wanna kill them sometimes...yup. Would I trade it back for the single life of partying, playing and living fast that almost killed me more than once, nah....

life is life wherever you go. i do the same thing sometimes, remember what it was like getting out of school at 3pm & having until 10 or so to do whatever. did a LOT of woodshedding. now, i have to force the time one night a week to go & pick up a guitar. most of the time it is not an inspirational scenario. i'm always glad afterwords though.

Works either way for me, Chief!! The first way you wrote it could be interpreted as "dont take anything for granted... LOVE what you have, cause nothing is permanent... except change."

That is what I was thinkin' also their Filmore. Both way's make sense too me. I myself enjoy most all I have although that may be very little still much more (Or less) than alot of people.This place here has givin me alot of things to learn about not only amp wise but life wise also and a thank you wouldn't cover it alone but thanks to all anyway!!

+1, Chad. I feel the same way. LOTS to learn here, extending WAY past guitars and amps, and a ton of great guys (and girls... littlemiss???) to exchange with!!
