It was on Fri. night.
Some of it was kinda sappy/stupid/overdone (not real bad though, I've definitely seen alot worse).
But hell, they're actually judging real bands here instead of dumbass karaoki divas!!!!!
The goth-metal band from Hollywood was hilariously terrible!!!!! Lead singer looked like Ace Frehley gained 60lbs, then got drunk before trying to put on his make-up

Done a few shows this year here in Detroit with the Muggs and they're always a good time. Bastards are gettin' so big for their britches they don't have the time to play our CD release party 'cause they're shooting some lame TV show
I didn't watch the show but was told that some of the bands were doing covers. What's the point? Why would a label want to sign a cover band?

I wondered the same thing. I only watched the first band which did a cover tune.dynaman wrote:...I didn't watch the show but was told that some of the bands were doing covers. What's the point? Why would a label want to sign a cover band?
How does playing covers make "The Next Great American Band"? Are their originals really that bad? Oh well, it worked for VH.

maybe in an era where top stars like britney can't even lip-sync their own material, maybe a good copy band could be cultivated! hehe

So, you work for the industry don't you......45auto wrote:maybe in an era where top stars like britney can't even lip-sync their own material, maybe a good copy band could be cultivated! hehe
I actually agree with you. The next marketing gimmick of the cultivated bands is to have them actually play. Wow what a concept.
