When will I learn?

So I've been working on the upstairs shower for ... oh ... about 2 years now. Today, I decide it's time to put up the concrete backer board. Man, that stuff weighs a ton and I'm working alone. Come to a point where I need to nail in a bit of 2x4 in a certain spot to have wood to screw into.
BLAMMO! Hammer right on the left index finger!
Right on the nail ... the finger nail that is. Turning purple now - pressure building - man I hope I can play through this.
I gotta start hiring this stuff out.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. If you are like me you'll never learn. I try to do everything myself. Whenever I'm cutting wood or working on cars I'm always thinking in the background "Am I ever gonna play again". Fortunately my day job is low risk.

I took a big chunk out of my "bar chord" finger on the back of a chop saw. Looked like a shark bite. Went to the ER. The Tech asked if I cut it or hit. I asked why? He said the finger tip bone was shattered. I said "Oh, that's where I hit it with the hammer last week!"

i hit the thumb of my fretting hand a few years ago. there was no aparent nail damage, but i think i have finally gotten rid of the damned fungus that's been growing under the nail.
i refused to visit my doctor. i thought it would grow out in no time

the treatment that worked is cutting the nail short on a regular basis and rubbing vicks chest rub into it (there are two essential oils in it that are anti-fungal). top notch stuff!
