Found this on IFC this morning. Actually pretty funny. They had one spot where this woman talks about trying to "De-metalize" the kids.
And talk about hair bands!

Documentary is from 88 but I'd guess late 70's early 80s for most of the bands.
EDIT: Actually if you get this channel check out Tom Dowd and the Language of Music on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 10:35 AM EST
Independent filmmaker Mark Moormann directs the feature-length documentary Tom Dowd and the Language of Music. Shot on color and black-and-white16 mm film stock, the biography is a personal portrait of legendary recording engineer and producer Tom Dowd. The man himself is featured in a series of interviews from 1996 (the year he won a lifetime achievement award from the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences) until 2002 (the year of his death). Filmed at Criteria Studios in Miami, FL, he is shown both at work behind the soundboards as well as reflecting on his memorable career. Other interview subjects include artists Ray Charles and Eric Clapton; record producers Phil Ramone and Arif Mardin; and surviving members of the Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Tom Dowd and the Language of Music premiered at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival.

One of the guitar players in my band played (plays) drums for the band "Seduce" that was in that movie. I've yet to watch it myself.

Is this the same flick where that dude is floating around in his moms pool drinking Vodka like its going out of style, while his mom is just sitting there watching him? That shit is just brutal.

The #2 movie directed by Penelope Spheeris, too? Just curious. She's a demanding woman. I persuaded myself not to setup her editing system 7 years ago. It didn't take much, mostly letting her talk about how important she was to Hollywood.
Considering I have multiple Oscar winners on my client list, I found it difficult not to laugh out loud while she acted all high and mighty.

THANK you!!! I was driving myself nuts trying to remember his name. I wonder if he's still alive anymore. You gotta figure he couldnt go much longer abusing himself like that. The fact that an adult can be SO outta control to do that in front of his mom while she sits there helplessly watching is really sad.

I didnt know he was married to Lita Ford. She used to be decent looking, but has been lookin' a little "long in the tooth" lately. (As are we all...)

It's called IFC and comes with our cable package. They occasionally have older rock documentaries such as spinal tap and others. More like an artsie film channel I guess but sometimes have some good stuff .

IFC = Independent Film Channel. I like Henry Rollins' show.
That Chris Holmes scene is heavy...I think one of the most visceral examples showing the dark side of the scene which always seem to have been portrayed as fun and light-hearted at the time...sex, drugs, rock and roll...no consequences. Kind of brings to mind Ratt Behind the Music and the dissipation of Robin Crosby. Of course none this stuff was anything new but it does bring it into the light.
