I know, I know. From now on this site will be known as Flames Amplification!
Seriously, I asked Flames to help me give tech support through the forums a few moths ago. I was completely overwhelmed and his help has been priceless. Andy, I can't thank you enough.
He hasn't even asked for any compensation, and he paid full price for an amp kit. Just ordered it through the store.
Rest assured that you will be compensated.
Also a huge thanks to all of you who hang out here and offer help and advise to the questions asked. You can't know how much that helps me. I'm still running this whole thing by myself.
And I'm all about hooking you guys up too. Let me know some ideas.
I'm thinking like a T shirt for anyone with a certain number of posts. Or special deals each month for forum members. Something along those lines.
I opened for E commerse last Feb 1st, and it was a hell of a year! Now I'm retired from playing full time so I can put those 70-80 hours a week into this. Lots of great things are in the works, so please hang around.
George

Ya know, I can't help but think that a FAQ section in the forum would help ease the load. Personally, I sometimes get frustrated using the search engine because so many different topics will pop up. Just don't have the time to read them all. Even worse, I'll remember reading a topic a long time ago but not be able to find it.
I never search by text as too many options will appear. Unfortunately, searching by topic isn't great either, as many people will title their topic with something like "I Got A Question...."
It would be great if there were a search function that would enable readers to pick from subjects such as "Noise", "Power Supplies", Preamp", "Biasing", etc. and would link to specific threads. I realize that it would be a huge undertaking for someone to browse every thread and categorize it. Perhaps something could be made available so that the author of a topic, would also be required to specifically categorize (before submitting question) his or her post for archival purposes.
I've watched the discussions on this forum grow from mostly general questions to serious in depth technical stuff. Maybe we've outgrown the categories of "DIY" and "Repairs, Restos, Mods". Threads like "SLO Cloner" are priceless and should be easily accessible. In my opinion, this forum surpasses the others because of the no frills tech info that usually pertains specifically to Marshall oriented circuits. I'm sure everyone will agree that the other forums are helpful but littered with fluff like "I Just Bought A Marshall And It's So Sweet. Will You Please Comment? I think the 18Watt and Ampage sites are the only useful forums that don't require sifting through garbage.
At the very least, members should be considerate enough to include some key words in their topic titles for easier access by the search engine. And for the love of Peter, don't post a question about increasing gain under a category like "Metroamp.com."
Or perhaps all questions could simply be redirected to Flames!
BTW, Ampage has a neat catalog of chassis pics. Sure would be nice to check out the Metroamp members chassis porn here on this forum.

The one thing I find essential in searches in forums is to be able to narrow the search field to topic. As it is it has topic & message or just message. If I remember a topic has the words 'Input jack' in the title and I do a search I know only about 10 topics will have something like that in it which is easier to browse through then the 1200 that come up when its looking in both the topic and message body.

Funny....that's exactly why I rarely hang out at the Marshall Amp Forum anymore.I'm sure everyone will agree that the other forums are helpful but littered with fluff like "I Just Bought A Marshall And It's So Sweet. Will You Please Comment?
"What are the best tubes for my TSL?" "My Mode Four F#^@$n' Rocks!!"
Blahbety-blahbety-blah. I'm still wondering why Tim Swartz still hangs there as much as he does, he's gotta be goin' nuts. Like being a kindergarten teacher at show and tell.
A "frequently-asked-questions" section would be great, but even if you cut and paste quotes from the forums, think of the time in assembling it all into a useful Q & A format. Yikes!!

I understand how to use only title search. But there's lots of different ways of asking the same question in a title. Hypothetical titles:
"Biasing Output Tubes"
"Adjusting Idle Current"
"My Tubes Run Too Hot"
'Help! My Plates Are Glowing Red!"
Know what I mean? All these potential threads might have useful info but a simple title search of "bias adjustment" would yield no results without resorting to text search.

Yeah but noone whos used search engines would type something like 'bias adjustment etc..' Youd type 'bias' and see what comes up then 'biasing' and see what comes up. That would probably turn up all the good biasing threads here. Or you search for 'input' or 'hum' and every topic with somehitng to do with that will come up. That wont work for the few topics which people choose to have clever names for but every thread in this site has the words 'bias' 'input' etc... in the messege body somewhere so messege searches can be a bit overwhelming.
