Computer Build

Post by mightymike » Sun Dec 20, 2009 8:12 am

I'm looking to get a Barebones Computer, an eventually transfer all my drives from my existing computer to it.
Case----> Alien or Antec
Power Supply ------> Something in the 650watt range that will handle any of the gaming Video Cards
Mother Board, CPU, and Memory -------> This is where I'm still trying to decide.
I've been leaning toward and Intel Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad Setup, with a CPU in 2.8GHZ to 3 GHZ Range....
Then there's that I7 Quad core board, and The Phenom stuff... I want a fast front side bus, and ddr3. There was a I7 board that took ddr3, and up to 16gb of ram

I'm definately going to uprade cooling, because I would like to over clock, and I don't want heat messing anything up.
I'm also want to choose a board that will support the best video cards with the high enough power supply as mentioned before, but also with the right kind of slot...beit SLI or PCI express.. Which ever is better. I don't know

And of course I want the best deal.

I've been checking out http://www.pricewatch.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Still researching

I'd recommend against over clocking. You will get errors and odd crashes every once in a while, guaranteed. Its really NOT worth it. Spend a little more money and get the CPU speed you want.

As for SLI/PCI, get the i/f that corresponds to the cards you want and the i/f they are available in.
