Is it just me or...

Is there a lot less traffic on this board than there use to be? I've noticed the same phenomenon on other boards as well. It use to be, a few day away from here, there would be to many new subjects and posts, to keep up with. Now, I can be absent for a week and catch up with relative ease. I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

Yup. We've lost some damned good people due to pettyness too. I guess people get fed up of seeing arguments and flaming. Then again, some probably get tired of seeing the same questions over and over too.

noticed this too .... flaming demonufo ? where ?...actually i'd find real flaming much more sane ( better to pull out a big fart than to keep it right ?) , and above all epic ! but there's none .... to me i'd define it as a more subtle than real "all out" flaming , let's say it's more like little cig burns here and here .... and here .... on the scene , then behind the scene , attempts to cig burn ....then back off with a smile .... very skillfully done at times .... but it's not only here , seems people bite their tongues two three or four times now before replying to anything , when they effectively reply ! it's an ambiance which kinda intalled itself i think , it sucks and it's sad ...big time.... screw this shit , no one needs to follow the crowd nor need it's approval ; if it gets boring , gotta take the balls out and make it interesting no matter the damage or let it die , stagnating both hands in the butt isn't my definition of a rockn'roll attitude to say the least .... ..... sometimes i wonder if some people still remember the real intend of those old AC/DC records they claim they listen to ...DAMN guys wake up and destroy all of what your hands can grab for god's sake , drink , piss around , shout , insult , anything ... but do somethin' ...prove you're alive , be an animal !

though i may be wrong after all ? if the majority wan't still to play bridge in front of a cup of tea surrounded with "nice fellows" ...then , power to the people ...what else can i say

you know it just gets harder to just talk. if politics slips in, I get a warning, if one of my amps or products slips in I get a warning. I end up talking more on gear page. Ive had way more help here thru the years but having a regular conversation is getting harder.

Jeez. That sucks a large one. Not enough people know about other users products on here IMO. F'rinstance, I know you like basing some amps upon Marshall master circuits, and that you are Surreal Amplification, but that's about it. As for being told off for mentioning them (um, oops! ), well that's just plain ridiculous. Especially considering the help that people such as yourself provides for others. Surely that's worth a little break.
As for the flaming, well that seems to have stopped many months back.
So are we gonna all have to become fully paid up bonafide advertisers before we're allowed to mention our products and services at all? Even if those products are ground breaking and of use to everyone?

I think a few people also got upset by a few members that couldn't accept anybody's opinions other than their own too. It did get a little boring after a while.

Oh well, I need this place too much to disappear myself. And if I can help out a little along the way...(most unlikely! )

I just dropped out of another forum (unnamed in the sake of fairness) that was one of the most immature, clique-ish places I've ever seen.
And they lost a LOT of members due to the "duality" of the mods, admins, etc. It was like a bad game of "Do what I say, but I can do whatever I want". Talk about getting old REAL quick... This place is a day at the beach compared to some other forums I've seen.

Bottom line?? Its relaxed, well run, has great members for the most part, and I love it.

Absolutely, I'd agree with all that for sure. This is still a great place. It's just there used to be some people that made it better still.
I only ever hang at 1 other forum, and I don't spend that much time there.

Ooh, hang on, I'm occasionally over at 18watt.com too, but generally only when I'm messing about with my 18 build, which isn't very often, since it seems to reside permanently in the rehearsal room a few miles from here.

Most people here build so who'm I gonna sell to you know? lol

Exactly my point. Most of us are customers of George's (I'd feel guilty of spending all this time here if I wasn't), and I'm sure you're amps are way superior to anything that's left my workbench, but I'm damned if I'm gonna have one shipped to the UK, just 'cause the name came up in a thread!

I happen to love this place a whole lot. It's one of the very few places that we can learn from without being ridiculed, or patronised (too much! )I've never known a community of more helpful, like-minded people anywhere. And generally, differences of opinion don't cause pissing matches, but hey, we've all seen it happen on occasion.

I just wish Will would come back and show me how to weave properly. I'm having a go, but it just doesn't look as neat as his when I try it on more than three cables at once. Which doesn't really help a great deal with OT wiring.

There are others sadly missed too. I'm hoping that young Dan finally got himself a life outside of us sad, geeky, solder fume addled old farts, rather than got fed up of the bullshit that occurred a while back.

There are some pretty simple rules in place to keep things fair for everyone, and minimize arguing about topics not related to amps. It shouldn't be hard to observe the rules, especially for the rank and file forum member who just wants to talk about amplifiers, get help for their build, and post pics and clips. That's why we are here in the first place.

People wanting to discuss religion, throw out some unauthorized spam, or ignore the rules are going to find the forum a little less welcoming.

Jerry, you know the rules very well since I have personally reminded you of them repeatedly, and you chose not to follow them, multiple times. I don't see how you can complain about being called on it. The rules apply to everyone and the moderators try very hard to apply them equally and fairly.
