That’s one thing I do share with my friends here in LA. If you’re a Yankee fan you HAVE to hate the Sox. It’s in the contract. The Angels fans hate ‘em, too. You know that team…the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Orange County, California, USA, Western Hemisphere, Earth, Milky Way Galaxy, Universe….

The Indians? Gimme a break. If you take the financial into account, besides being native, how can you NOT hate the Yankees. Hell, a few years ago, Roger Clemens pro-rated salary was more than Tampa's entire team salary! Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather buy things from the local Mom and Pop than Wal-mart, or the local hardware store than Home depot.... I think that same year the yankee's team salary was $80 million more than the next closest- The Red Sox.

Go figure. The Yankees have outspent again....team salaries:

I wonder if non-native Yankee fans always root for the rich kid to win, instead of the blue collar one.. Hey, I'm a Red Sox fan. If you're from a small market team, I don't blame you for hating them. At least they're close in salary to a handful of other teams.

We have guys around here that know nothing about baseball, never lived in NY, don't even watch it, but will put on a Yankee's hat just to get a rise out of people so they can be the center of attention.... I think I'll throw up now.

It's pretty easy to win when your salary is more than double than 22 other teams...

Another salary whiner...<yawn>...

My favorite baseball game was a trip to Fenway's little league park for a Yankee's / Sox game. Wore a NY jersey with #3 on the back. Made a lot of "friends"...

Not trying to whine... Just the facts. If it wasn't for the yanks, I probably wouldn't really watch much.. Nice to have an Evil Empire to despise. The $$$ just validates it... Makes each of their losses that much more enjoyable.

Ruth Jersey at Fenway. That is funny! I never had any problems at Yankee stadium... Nothing but good natured ribbing. You may not have been so lucky at our little league park....I always like the Damon(sox) outfield pic with 19 and 18 lined up.... That A-Rod purse/hand slap pic is a nice one.

I like "27" better

I do have to admit Fro, Fenway is a cool place to see a major league game (even with all those Red Sox fans there.... :o )

I honestly think the $$$ discussion is stupid and whiny, we all know you can buy the best equipment (vintage Strats and Marshall's) but if your heart isn't in it along with talent and dedication you're still not gonna be as good at the guy who does. If the $$ argument held water the Yanks would have won the last 10, 20? championships.

The $$$ thing always bugged me in baseball. Makes for great villans, though. Boston included. I'm pretty sure if they asked what was the mosted hated rivalry in sports, It'd be Sox /Yankees. When you walk into one furniture shop around here, they have a 20 foot tall replica of the Fenway wall, with an animatronic Wally(green monster) eating a lifesize Yankees manican... Hating the yankees is mandatory...

Now football? That's where the heart, talent, and coaching, actually mean something. The whole money thing in baseball IS buying the heart and talent...(Boston included) I loved it when Tampa went to the series. Of course, they had to suck forever to have a chance.

Well, in that case the money in ALL sports is beyond stupid, IMHO.

Yeah. The $$'s crazy, but at least all the salary cap leagues are on an even playing field. In case you were wondering, since 1978(couldn't find info before that), In all but one of the Yanks championships, they outspent everyone. I think their about 3 million more per player than the next closest...

Hmmm, sounds like if I had my choice I would work for the Yankees rather than the Sox or anybody else

I think if you did all the research you'll find the Yanks probably spent more than all other teams MOST of the years since '78 BUT have only won (or bought as some insist...) the WS 7(?) times? And the mini dynasty team '96, '98-'00 were "from the heart players". They would have been hard to beat even if they were making 3 mill less.
