I'm liking this but I have no resources available to me. Is it a full size 100 watt cab or not? Anybody?

Damn that sure is pretty. If George didn't have claim to all the available cash I had, I'd build it.

That's why I'm asking. I NEEED a purple cab. :D The ad claims it's a 100 watt size but the chassis looks like a 50 but again the guy says it's bigger than a 50 and I can't see if it's got a top vent or not.

But it's a tremolo control cutout (8 knobs), not a standard six-knob Super Lead cutout....would that still work for you anyway?

Actually that chassis has only seven nobs but lots of extra space on the sides....I'd say no if you need the standard Marshall six-knob control cutout.

I'm mainly interested in the cab. If I could get a standard 100 watt chassis in it I would go for it. Then if it happened to work where a stock 100 watt front plate would cover the extra holes that's even better.

COmpare the opening of the front panel to metros. If its the same length then you can probably mount a metro chassis though youd probably have to drill extra holes

The more I think about I think I'm better off getting one through George. The BIN price is more than George lists his cab for and I'm not that deep into building (yet) where I can take a bare chassis and turn it into something. I gotta spend some time playing my f'n guitar or all this great gear is gonna be worthless!!

Tell me about it -- I'm spending too much time tweaking and building amps and not enough playing them right now. I'm gonna have to start playing unplugged in front of the tube again.....

That's my cabinet and a full size 100 watt chassis will fit in it but will look ugly. The chassis that was made for the cab is 8" in depth. George's and other's Marshallesque chassis are much narrower. If mounted in the purple cab, these chassis would leave a sizeable gap between them and the back board.

I guess the auction description is a little confusing. The 100 watt circuit will fit into this chassis but will require creative placement of the filter caps. Better yet, individual caps could be mounted on phenolic like the early Marshalls.

Hey, Dynaman!! Thanks for replying. Really appreciate you being straight up. I'm not hip deep in building projects (yet). If I had George's or Flames or Dans or most others experience on this site I would go for it in a heartbeat. It sho is purdy! I've got a yearning for '67 circuit in a purple cab. Good luck!

This site has some serious professionalism, honesty and down right real world experience lacking in some others I've been to.

If I had the money I'd jump, like I said before.

What was that chassis made for? Lotsa tube holes laid out on there.....looks like a 50-watter with serious preamp gain......

Sold! There are only three preamp holes drilled in the chassis. There's a big space between V2 and V3 and lots more space between V1 and the edge. Maybe the funny spacing made it seem like there were more holes.

Yeah, it was a nice cab, but the more I looked at it and the more I stumbled over on my floor the more I hated it. It was REALLY REALLY purple. Like a big square peter.

I have another one anyway. It's one of Mojos' that will accept a regular sized Marshall smallbox chassis. And the purple is a softer shade. I'm gonna put the JTM50 circuit in it and get rid of it.

I'm planning on offing a few more amps in the next few months. Probably some parts too.

I just finished and sold a JTM45 on Ebay recently and it got lots of interest. Mostly from people who wanted the JTM50 circuit instead of the '45! Here was the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 7357603502
