This was posted over at 18watt and I figured some of you guys might dig it:

Check out those stacks and how simple the sound is. Good stuff.

This is the sound I was trying to describe in my description of the JTM45/100 that I built, over in the MetroAmp forum. It's distorted, but not like later Marshalls, in comparison to them it's very clean.......so anyone wants to know what to expect from the JTM45/100, this is it.....cleaner, brighter, rawer......classic.

How could George think I didn't like an amp that sounds like THIS?????

Oh yeah. I love Free. Paul's tone is THE Les Paul/Marshall standard for me.

And his vibrato is second to none. Thanks for the link!

Of course a Les Paul and an Orange gets the job done too.....

I noticed a couple of those peeking around in back, but it wasn't clear if Paul was using those too, or if they were backline for whoever was on next.

I also see a couple of those 8-input JTM100 PA heads.......

I've been playing for twenty-three years, and I still can't get that vibrato down on a bent note........

Keep plugging away at it d00d. A wailing bending vibrato is a mighty weapon in a axeman's bag of tricks! Add some wah for a SICKLY wail!!

Kossoff´s vibrato, that wide wailing thing he does... I can do a pretty good Clapton bluesy vib on the bent notes, but Kossoff, and, to an extent, Clapton in Cream !

I think it´s genetic ! There´s something wrong with these guys !
I had a student who needed to work on his Vibrato. I played him som Free, some Cream, some Green, some Jimi to give him examples, and made him a tape so he could pick one to work on. He came back and did Kossoff ! He had it down, feel and all ! It gave me goosebumps ! I saw somewhere even Clapton was envious, asking him how the hell he did it. He sounded soo cool, playing relatively simple things with that sound. Love him.

Best Of Free

I found this VHS tape years ago new (now out of print) and had it transferred to DVD so it'll last for eternity. It's correct title is Best Of Free, and there are three clips from the Isle of Wight show, the rest are live cuts from Top of the Pops etc...One might still find it in some clearing houses or Amazon used!!!!

Is there anyway you could rip the audio to computer or transfer the DVD to *.wmv or *.mpg or another video format?

It's gone already?!?!?

I don't think his vibrato is a good as BB's or Claptons. Too fast for me. Clapton milks it nice and slow. Mick Ralphs has a sweet vibrato, too. Don't get me rong though, Kossoff was a great player and innovator.

Paul (like myself) were lefties forced to play right-handed out of convenience; thus we had far superior strength in our fretting hand than others that played in the opposite fashion!!!
