Is there a way to turn off forum avatars?

Usually there's a way to disable avatars from being shown...very handy when browsing at work. I checked my profile options but don't see anything to turn them off, just the box for uploading...am I missing something? Do I have to have a certain amount of posts before that feature becomes available? (I've seen other forums that do that where you have to have at least 25 posts before you can upload an avatar and all that). Just curious. The last thing I need is HR walking by seeing flemingras' kermit humping a stuffed animal.
