there are studies involving treated nano particles of iron fixing on to the tumor then superexcited by a huge electromagnet so as to make the cancerous cells explode .... genetic treatments are at early stages of developpment too .... lots of doors to knock on , even more if you're a multimillionnaire and have an agenda full of high class telephone numbers ..... soon having a cancer will be like having a flu , but yeah for now it's still sad news

Lymphoma covers such a broad spectrum of conditions (Hodgkin's, non-Hodgkins, B-cell, T-cell, etc, etc)
It covers low grade disease that needs no specific treatment (an older friend of mine is in just this situation). This is more common in people in their 60s and 70s whereas other more aggressive types will kill you in a few months if untreated, these tend to affect people in their teens/early 20s
Treatment for the aggressive types is extremely effective in the majority of cases but may require you to be poisoned to within an inch of your life with chemotherapy or local disease with radiotherapy.
I suspect the more indolent type because of his age, the ones that do universally badly are this with HIV/AIDs so hope is not in that group.
