When I heard about this recently, I was like, "Why? No disrespect to Zeppelin, but they've sounded pretty crappy in every live appearance ever since the ITTOD tour ended, sometimes even embarrasingly bad..."

But after watching the trailer for this new film- WOW!... if the film sounds as good as the trailer, it's going to kick some serious ass; I'm ready to check it out. "It Might Get Loud" was great too. Never underestimate the ability of good studio skills to enhance an concert event so it sounds better than it really did when it happened- I keep saying Van Halen should do the same thing... Film it, and fix it later in the studio...

In an unrelated topic, I heard Kevin Trudeau (I know) relate the experience of Stevie Nicks when she said they put her on Klonopin, the drug EVH just had to fight. Scary stuff. Worse than what Eddie even said. I'm taking Pharmacology II this semester, and I have to say- stay healthy as you can while you're young, 'cause there's alot of BAD "treatments" out there with horrible side effects that the medical/pharmaceutical/psychology industry is just waiting to give you... :( :stars:

Just got my DVD copy in the mail! This is a must get... SOOOO much better than the bootlegs of the O2 concert that are out there... Plant really sounds amazing, the boots I've heard of this concert were iffy but this DVD is a great mix and sound quality!

What I have noticed though is that some of the bootlegs showed lower keys on many of the songs, and hey presto, some of those songs have mysteriously been restored to concert pitch for the film release...

As a big Zeppelin fan, I'm out, on principle!

Was not going to bother buying it having heard bootleg clips. but sounds like the pukka version might be ok.

I have some high quality live recordings (not sure how legal they are) of their early 70s shows at Earls Court and they hold up pretty well to the studio and remastered live shows.

Still good to hear and see the mighty Zep in action again and only fitting with Jason. They still can't play their early stuff like the record but the later stuff is right on! And Jimmy STILL fucked up the break in Whole Lotta Love! But, I still love it.

No doubt they never played anything live like the album! Ha! And one of the most endearing of Page's qualities IS to fuck things up! At least he was consistent there! HA! Gotta get that DVD, even for one viewing and to shelve it after.

I never got how he could play the Rain Song or Song Remains so beautifully then fuck up the most famous lead break in rock and roll. And HE WROTE IT!!!!!

I credit Jimmy Page as my mentor and tutor on how to f@*k up a solo during a gig three quarters of the way through the solo when you are just supposed to be 'heading for home' to resolve it..
Sell it as 'my personal interpretation' (for copyright reasons) or attribute it to Bhuddist principles of never being too perfect and leave room for improvement next time................

I don't mind a bit of "tweaking in the studio to make it sound better. That's part of what happens even on studio LPs, so if it fixes a few spots here & there on a "live" album, I'm all for it. I only wish Van Halen would take a cue from this and do the same, so we could have a killer official live VH album with DLR. O.k, they'd have to fix ALOT of his vocals- but it'd work, and the results would be GREAT! :vh:

Intersting that this was shown on BBC at the weekend:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... ation_Day/

I believe set list was:

Good Times Bad Times *
Ramble On *
Black Dog *
In My Time Of Dying
Your Life*
Trampled Under Foot
Nobody's Fault But Mine
No Quarter
Since I've Been Loving You *
Dazed and Confused *
Stairway to Heaven
The Song Remains the Same
Misty Mountain Hop
Kashmir*

Encores:
Whole Lotta Love *
Rock and Roll

The ones asterisked are the ones on i-player (that I remember) maybe more as I only listened once!

I work in a movie theater and we have this background music in the halls and theaters called "cinemasounds"

i consider it more of a nagging bitch than an actual music outlet, as it's really just sold ad space, but once in a while it plays something tolerable, and it was cool to see Zep put on Kashmir in support of the film's release, even if its only in a few theaters.

I'm not a huge Zep fan but its nice to see them still catering to their fans, and I really wish a few other groups would do the same instead of sitting on their already fat wallets...
