London Calling - The Clash
The Wall - Pink Floyd
Physical Graffiti - Led Zep
Electric Ladyland -Jimi
Setting Sons - The Jam
Song Remains the Same

Can't think of any others that hold up to to the whole four sides scrutiny.

I suspect The Clash and Jam albums will be off most peoples radars

I always skip quite a few tracks when listening to London Calling after all these years.

I'm gonna throw something different out there...

Prince - Sign O' The Times

and add a little Skynyrd - One More From The Road
So I like purple, okay!!!!!!

Norwegian band Motorpsycho have made a whole slew of double (and even 2 1/2!) albums which I would rank all the way up there, particularly..

Timothy's Monster (1994) 2 1/2 sides
Trust Us (1998) - in my personal top 10 of all time!

If forced to choose one double album to top them all, the choice is easy: Electric Ladyland is heads and shoulders above the competition!

FInally, I'll throw out another outsider: Tony Williams Lifetime - Emergency!

Oh, and Miles Davis made some pretty nifty double albums in the early 70s...

Physical Graffiti is a favorite, but White Album is great as well. Electric Ladyland would be my #1 choice for best double album ever though.

I would say to keep the live albums out of it. So many good double live albums. But it really narrows it quite a bit when you keep it to double studio albums.
