The Extended Warranty

Hey team,

From working at Best Buy during my college years i've been bombarded with pressure selling the extended warranty. In some cases like expensive digital cameras and camcorders (where the plans give you free baterries and cleanings) they are totally worth the money, while other things in the store have warranties that seem ridiculous. Among the ridiculous is a warranty on a PlayStation 2 game that gives you a replacement if the game fails on you.... and the warranty is $15!~~

What are your thoughts guys and gals (if there are any)??

With the exception of buying a used car, where the extended warranty can pay for itself many times over (the '96 Trans Am my wife had comes to mind   those poor guys dumped about seven large in that car for the grand they got outta me :D :D ) I think they're a joke on most electronics. They wouldn't be offered and pushed so hard if it wasn't easy money for the warranty seller.........

I agree in that I think it is just a way to dick you out of more cash. Of course, it is usually my luck that a piece of equipment screws up as soon as the regular warranty runs out. :D

It's mostly designed to feed those manager bonuses too. God I need an internship now to get out of this retail bullshit!!!!
