anyone have any suggestions on getting a 12" speaker box so i can safely ship a speaker to be repaired and not end up there with more damage like a bent speaker frame?

i tried best buy in the stereo install section and the on guy told me they dont keep any speaker boxes " we give them all back to the customer" right!.. anwyay, suggestions on how to ship this safely would be appreciated here!

What about all those tons of music stores in Austin? Bound to be one that has a spare box somewhere. If not then a small book box from U-Haul should cover the speaker plus padding for it.

i figured i can make a pretty good box as far as protecting the cone but i dont want the frame to get bent. although im about to get creative with it!@

You might want to use that high density grey foam like the stuff that is in road cases. I bet you can pick up some scrap from a foam supply shop for next to nothing. are you sending for a recone or what?

Hey Mark,
Why not mount the speaker on a cheap lightweight piece of 1/4" plywood? This may really help protect the frame from getting bent during shipping. I'm sure you can find some scraps laying around lumber yards or a friends house who does woodworking. I would try to double box it if possible also.
