Hey, I don't know actually.
But I love the solo at the end.
Slash is playing his signature LP there, right?

Wow, Slash's prosthetic hair (aka wig) still looks as good as ever! I'll never understand why Les Paul players insist upon sacrificing their playing (picking articulation) by having their guitar hang down to their knees in order to have that stereotypical "cool look". Jimmy Page's (who I highly respect incidentally) sloppy live playing can attest to this statement. It should be quite evident I've never been a fan of Slash, and that's my perogative, like it or not. I'll take him any day over that offensive and annoying Axel (Alexander) Rose meathead though. BTW, we ALL must be gettin' old, 'cuz Stevie Winwood could pass for my old man for Christ's sake!!!

I could´nt stand watching it to the end. Bad tempo, no swing. Stevie was struggling to make something out of it, but Slash sucked !
What a crappy guitarsound. And badly played too. Did he use a Valvestate ?
Solidstate, farty distortion. Thanks for sharing. Now I´m sure why I don´t like Slash: Sounds bad, can´t play !

Would have been impressive if he played that entire solo with his teeth :D
Found it very hard not to fall asleep after 5 seconds...
That's like your opinion man.

i grew up up as a slash fan, and have shitloads of guns boots, but that really is the worst tone i've heard from him. the semi clean volume rolled back is bad. could be his new sig SD pickups!

I agree that his tone isn't the same it used to be.
But to me, the playing is still awesome (well... the VR stuff is pretty mediocre).

I remember watching that on VH1. I would've rather seen Dave Mason (of Traffic) pay tribute b/c he actually played on Electric Ladyland...perhaps Robin Trower or Frank Marino could've done a better job in my opinion, I guess they're not in the mainstream enough to have been considered?

I liked Slash in GNR and a few songs of VR but thats about it

Horrible. This is what happens when you choose the wrong tempo for a song. Slash starts out too slow and there's no rescue after that. As a result, the whole band sux. I mean, you've got some top players up there on that stage and I agree Winwood actually performs the best given the circumstances, but this is something they would probably sooner forget as well.

That´s right:

Slash sets the wrong tempo, plays the intro sloppy, and has a bad attitude and tone. Listen to the original. What sets it of is Jimi´s tone, that intro has one of the greatest guitar sounds ever, clear and sharp, and the tempo is just right. On some live versions Jimi starts too slow, and it just dies for him too.
